So things have been going better with Crack lately, he's shedding right now which was the reason for his discolouration, his limp is gone from that jump off the couch and he's eager to eat his superworms again.
We got him the 4 ft tube UV light as it fit into a light we already had, and in the couple days he's had that on, he's perked right up already!
I've been bathing him daily with the shed going on, and when I brought him out of the bath yesterday I put his dish of superworms in a little while after. Well didn't he run over to the dish, tilt his head at it, come closer to the front of the tank, look directly at me and do a huge head bob at me! Three good bobs and then he ran over to his dish and started gobbling up the worms! It was so funny, I wasn't sure if he was mad at first, but now I think he was thanking me for the food?
Then this morning, he's all peeling, his beard is pitch black, it's raining out and I'd closed the curtains last night due to the temp. drop so his tank wouldn't cool down too much (he's on my dresser right in the biggest window so he can watch the birds & squirrels, and this morning he couldn't see his "tv", lol). I go over to him, open his curtain, chat him up, offer him his breakfast and he's just tearing around his tank, climbing the walls, nosing the glass, digging at the corners, all upset and his beard is SO black. I figure something's bothering him, check him out, he's fine, but as I put him back down, I notice inside his hide he pooped a huge poop, lol... that's his issue, haha! Can't hide b/c it's gross in there, ok, fixed that issue, but he's still blackbearding an hour later.
I sat on my bed to watch him for a bit, he is still going nuts trying to get out, then he runs right at the glass facing me, does a crazy head bob and runs away... weirdo... lol. He really doesn't want to be touched, so his bath today is not happening. I put a big low dish in there with water in it so he can soak himself - heat light over it so it's not too cold, but he won't touch it.
So is this head bob a dominance thing, a thanks for food thing, a get my attention thing or what? :study:
