Hey everyone! Hope you're all doing well!
We are now under the new billing with hydro - high peak times: 7am-11am, 5pm-9pm = 9.9cents; mid-peak: 11am-5pm = 8.3cents; and off peak: 9pm-7am = 4.4cents/kwh.
Setting up new lights for our guys soon with new vivs for everyone (all 4 beardies, 3 leopards & the boa) in a Reptile Room in our house that is going to be set up with it's own heating system and have the a/c cut off from it so it stays stable year round! We are converting the old kitchen in our basement apt (that we're not using) into the room, insulating the outer walls to make sure it stays warm. We will also be putting in an automated sprinkler system customized to mist everyone as needed and fill water basins in each tank that will have overflows on them to drain out if they get too full.... hubby is so excited to build these amazing tanks!
Anyway, I'm trying to figure out the lighting with the new hydro pricing and maximize use of off-peak and mid peak times for their spots and still be able to feed them at normal times during the day/evening/early morning so that I am not getting up in the middle of the night because that's when their lights are on, lol...
Any suggestions? With the room being heated separately, I can have the ambient temp set up at 80 or so (I have to doublecheck on the temps for the other guys to make sure I'm not too hot/cold for anyone - I'm just trying to get an idea right now) and have basking lights come on whenever their "morning" time is - I'm wondering, can I have them come on at 5am till 7am then off for 4 hrs till 11am or no? If I fed them at 6am, then I'd need the lights on till 8am right?
How would you do it? We're getting a really neat multi timer with zones so that we can have everyone individualized - same with the sprinkler system (with little heads on it, not huge lawn ones, lol) and the more automated the lights/heat/water is, the less time I need to spend doing that, the more time I can actually spend hanging out with everyone!
Any & all feedback is greatly appreciated! I will post pics of the crew soon, my computer won't accept the memory card from my camera right now for some reason, but I will figure it out & get some good pics up!
Thanks in advance!!
