Hurt toe/nail?

Noticed him barely using his right back foot this morning. Looked closer and his nail is a bit narly, like it splintered around the cuticle and possibly a small cut up the toe from their, I did notice him biting at his foot a day ago, he is shedding their a bit, maybe he chomped too much? I put him in a nice warm bath and am planning to touch it up with hydrogen peroxide. Boyfriends tells me that's all the vet will do too is clean it, right?

I just don't want it to get infected. Looks a bit painful, my poor baby.

Don't use hydrogen peroxide, it kills good flesh as well as bad stuff. You can get some betadine, and mix it with water until it looks like weak tea and soak his foot in that. Just don't let him drink it. You can also put a bit of neosporin on it. Hopefully someone else will chime in about the biting - beardies don't normally do that unless something is really bothering them as far as I've seen.

Daner923 said exactly as I was going to say; Definitely go with the diluted betadine rather than the hydrogen peroxide.

As for the biting, my guess is it was because of a retained shed around his toe. Not exactly sure why he was doing it, but as long as you get it clean and wrapped up, it should be ok. If he continues to bite at it, just wrap it in a little bit of gauze so he won't be licking at the neosporin.

How long and how many times do I need to soak him in that?

He seems a lot more chipper after the warm bath, the toe area looks cleaner too, I have to go get that stuff today, don't even own Neosporin, lol.

Once you get the betadine, here's what you can do. When you give him a betadine soak, try to get only the hurt area in the solution, and again, just make sure he doesn't drink it. I would say roughly 10, 15 minutes in the soak then a good rinse. Repeat that process once more for the day, and continue the soaks twice a day until the issue clears up.

When you make the solution, dilute it in warm water to the color of weak tea. Putting it in a small tupperware container will be ideal for soaking a small part, like a foot.

Lol, will be hard to keep him still for that, but I will try, thank you guys for helping me out, was feeling a cold chill there for a bit. He is really moving around the tank now, lol, my handsome little dragon!

Okay, got the stuff, I already put Neo on him because I already nuked the cut with hydrogen peroxide earlier, figured that will be enough today. About how many teaspoons of the beta in how much water?

Also, I here this stuff stains skin and stings like hell because it is iodine........are you certain this is necessary?

It shouldn't be too bad - remember, you're looking for a color like really weak tea. It is the way to go with beardies. Lots of people have done it on here, and none have had any problems with it that I have seen!
