Humidity in enclosure

Everything in Spyro's enclosure is perfect except the humidity. The humidity inside is worrying me a little. The past two days it has been creeping up a little. It's now 50. He doesn't have a water dish in his enclosure. Ember is in the same room and her humidity is at 30. The enclosures are maybe 5 feet apart. Am I worrying about nothing? How can I lower the humidity?

I feel like I should know this, but ........

From what I know, 50 isn't awful but not ideal. I do wonder about the difference between the two tanks if they're right near eachother. How are you measuring humidity? Is it possible that the issue is with the measurement rather than the actual humidity?

I wondered the same thing. While out last night I bought two new humidity gauges from petco. I just leaned them against the glass in the middle of both enclosures. The new ones are reading the same as the other ones mounted inside. Is there another way to measure the humidity? I just worry over my two babies.

I understand the worry for sure. You could try using a digital hygrometer and see if that comes up with a different reading. Is there anything else in the tank that could cause a different reading like that? Are the temps the same?

If the readings do turn out to be high, you could probably rent or buy a dehumidifier to put next to the tank. I picked up a dehumidifier when my cricket tank got infested with grain mites and that took care of the issue quickly.

Is there a difference in ventilation between the two enclosures?

That level of humidity (50%) wont be problematic though, especially given that it will be lower than that by the basking lights. You want it around 35-60% so its actually the other one that is a little low. Again that shouldnt be too problematic though, just make sure its eating regularly. Im guessing you bathe it regularly, just take a mister or spray bottle and spray your dragons face in the bath. This should stimulate it to drink.

I purchased a humidifier today. The humidity dropped to 40 in his enclosure. I will work on hers tomorrow to boost it a little. The female (lower humidity) eats like a pig and loves baths. They are both in the main living area which has a 20ft ceiling. The humidity is high in Georgia during the summer so I wanted to fix this before it got out of hand. Thank you for the input!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
