How to view larger photos on this forum??

Hi all,

I've been posting photos in a few threads and I noticed that no matter how big my photo is, it always resizes it. Also, I noticed when a thread with photos is first loading, the photos are large size, then they immediately resize. That's nice in most cases, but sometimes I would like to view it larger to see more detail.
Is there a way to do this? (besides downloading each pic and opening it elsewhere).

On other forums, there's a tab at the top of each photo to allow me to make it larger.

If you use firefox you can hold down the 'CTRL' and scroll with your middle mouse button to zoom the screen.

just right click on the picture you want to see and select "view image". that'll show the picture in its original size.

The reason that I do have the scripting in place that forces images to be resized is that images larger than the set limits really should not be posted as an embedded image! It forces people to load large images, and not everyone has a super fast Internet connection.

Images should not be posted embedded in a post if they significantly exceed the forced limit (which I think is about 600 px wide). Instead, if someone has a higher resolution image, just post the LINK. That way people aren't forced to download the huge image through their Internet connection unless they decide to click on the image.

So, the limits are really more meant for encouraging improved user experience. I can't actually limit the actual image size at the time of posting (I would if I could) with the current version of the forum software. But hopefully that encourages people to post more reasonable sizes.

Also, if people post links to the large images, people will more readily know how to get to it.

But yes... as pointed out "View Image" generally does the trick (can depend on your browser though).

Notice the bar at the top of each photo that allows you to quickly enlarge? Kinda handy. Is that coding hard to do?

That is handy. It isn't too hard to do either. But that defeats the purpose of my main reason for resizing. I want to discourage linking in large photos. Even on those sites, people have to load the larger photos in their browser. As with mine, they're just resizing it for display, but the full size image has to be downloaded regardless.

It's not so bad with images the size of what people posted in that link. But I sometimes see people linking in really high resolution images. I really wish there was a way at the time of posting to enforce a limit.

I gotcha - thanks for elaborating!

I know that a lot of people will just upload pics from their 10, 12 even 16 megapixel cameras, not realizing the native file size is HUGE!!
