I'm sure that it saddens you greatly, it would have been very traumatic to see the small one get killed. As Karrie said, there's no safe way and really no need to introduce the new one. They will either want to fight or mate, and they may not do this right away but it can happen in a flash. They don't view each other as friends at all and don't need each other.
