How to make outdoor wood safe?

I found some real nice pieces of driftwood that I would love to put into my beardies tanks, but there are spider webs inside of it and bugs all over along with dried mud...How do I get rid of these and make it safe for my boys?

I've read you can bake it and I tried that for an hour, but dirt and wood constantly came off of it when I put it in the viv. Any good ideas for how to clean it up?

Let it soak in some hot water (or boiling water) to get all the loose stuff off of it. Then pop it in the oven at 250 for an hour+ or so and that should kill anything nasty in the wood.
