This might seem silly to you experienced Dubia owners, but how do you get the roaches out of the bin to feed your beardie? We're just starting to feed them to our beardie and yesterday, while trying to get a roach off my hand (they have got a grip!) he escaped! Fortunately, as he scurried away, he fell off the table and landed on his back and stayed there for an easy catch.

Does it really have to be a two handed job? I don't have the hand-eye coordination to use tongs. I'm trying to get specific sizes so I don't think a paper towel tube will work. Our beardie is just over 14" long and I saw that someone else was feeding adult roaches to a beardie that size, so maybe I shouldn't worry about size? I apparently need a wider mouth container than the oatmeal box I used for crickets without incident. Any tips you can pass along? Do I just need practice?

Thanks in advance.

Hey Wes... leave the container (oatmeal) In the bin... there those roaches will go to hide, and all you do then, is just pluck that out, and upend into the feeding container ;).

You'll get the hang of grabbing them as well after a while. I used to worry about squishing them. Now I'm like Dead Eye Dick, I can grab a male dubia out of a couple thousand swarming nymphs from 3 ft. w/ lightning quick reflexes.... Just had to pat my back sorry. :D

No problem, Janie. It's just a thread. So, you agree it's OK to give a 14" beardie adult Dubias?

Ian, I think you hit it right on the head. I was being too gentle with them. Thanks for the advice. It went much more smoothly yesterday.

Well mine that eat the adult dubias are 20+" long... a 14" baby might do better with a fresh molted adult... or a large nymph.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
