How to clean wood/cork pieces

I just setup my tank and I won't be bringing my dragon home for a few weeks but I'm already concerned about cleaning the tank. I decided that the first Saturday of every month I'll replace all the substrate and clean the tank and everything in it. The only thing I don't know how to do is clean the wood and cork pieces. I read that you should soak and bake them but the cork is a bit crumbly so how would that work? How does everyone else clean their tank? Thanks for the help! :D

I have the same question as to the best way to clean wood items. Do you have your beardie now?

I'm picking him up tomorrow morning :D , I'll post some pictures once we're home.
