There are actually quite a few (longtime)members here in their 40's and 50's. :D I am not naming any names though  :silent:
o.k. I will name a name. I'm Lori and I turned 52 last February. My husband is 64 (last November) and we both own (or are owned by) two wonderful beardies. These are our 5th and 6th beardies we've owned since Thanksgiving of 2004.

My husband hates crawling things with a passion, would go nowhere near a roach, and refuses to even consider what reptiworms really are - and had a fit when I said I touched them with my bare hands (then washed them, jeez!). He has zero interest in reptiles. I like the scaly things of the world, and plan to raise my daughter to at least not fear them; whether she wants to love and keep them or not is up to her!

And yeah, this board does make your odds look pretty darn good, TwoSheep!

(Excuse typos; typing on my phone.)

I'm twenty. College student hiding a bearded dragon in an apartment complex, ha ha (don't tell, please)! I've always loved all kinds of animals, and my family has an extensive history of pets, ranging from cats and dogs, axolotls, lobsters, koi, birds, turtles, and other reptiles. My parents are relatively afraid of snakes (I've always wanted one), but they can handle lizards.

Kaiser is my first bearded dragon, and when my mother asked me if I wanted a baby beardie (my mother's friend had just recently bred her two bearded dragons), I immediately took her up on the offer. :]

How was having a goat?

I've loved goats all my life - apparently, I had an obsession with them from before age 2, when I insisted we go daily to the zoo to feed them - but still have never owned one. When we can finally afford some land...!

There's always pygmy goats! I used to know someone who breed show goats, and they had a newborn pygmy. Cutest thing ever! It was about the size of an 8 week old kitten! I about died of cuteness overload seeing it hop around and play.

They're soooooooooooooo cute, aren't they? Would still need more space than we've got now, though - very small yard!

I love the black and white pygmy goats, for some reason. Those are just the cutest. :love5:

HAHA, i am 20 as well, and I don't own my beardie yet but am in the transition, have some of the supplies it is just within the next few weeks till I pick one up, but I TOO will be 'hiding' my beardie in my apartment. I have ALWAYS had an obsession for them since I was 7 or so, parents almost bought me one but decided it was too much of an investment. I personally never had pets growing up but I guess prior to me my brother and family had 2 dogs, and wen I was really young I recall us having a box turtle. Only pets I ever had were the toads I would catch lol. However, I feel like it is finally time for me to buy one. I think it helps me feel more independent and responsible away from my parents. With me at school and having to be responsible for myself, bills, I feel like being a 'parent' (of a beardie duh!) will just help me feel more independent having more responsibility.
I have been obsessed for quite some time now!

The kind that I have is a pygmy goat and she is wonderful. She acts just like a dog sometimes, lol. She wears a collar and when I want to walk her out of her pen I just put her on a leash. If there are any plants that you want to keep you will definitly want to keep goats away from them, lol.

If you are looking for one as a pet do not get a male. They are sooo nasty  I would tell you but I'm not sure if someone is reading this and eating too. All I can say is "Ewww..." :puke:

This is my goat Nakita  I still have her. She just lives out with my father-in-law in the country and I live in the city limits :(

She's so cute! :love5:

Don't need to know what the males do; I'll stick with a female - if I can ever have one! (Though I'm curious now...)

Supers, reptiworms, hornworms, butterworms, anything that ends in worm, doesn't bother me at all. However, received my first order of Dubia today and :puke: They creep me out!! Never thought I would be 39 playing with worms and roaches.

I have been obsessed for quite some time now!

It's actually not too difficult hiding the bearded dragon, especially since they don't make any noise, ha ha. The problem is when you have to order live feeders, and you get scared that the mailman will bring the glaring, "LIVE FEEDER WORMS" pasted box to your apartment complex... Plus, it used to be REALLY risky for me, because I used to go home on the weekends a lot, and would have to take my bearded dragon home with me. Including his terrarium and everything in it! So I'd always haul out his terrarium as fast as I could, out of the complex, and into my car, and hope no one would see me! I've long since rectified that problem though, by buying another terrarium for my place back home, and one for my apartment, ha ha!

Bearded dragons are a big investment. I think all reptiles are. At least, compared to all of the other animals I have ever had. They're very expensive, financially and time-wise. But they are so worth it. :]

And yeah, bringing in an animal as a new member of your family is a great way to not only become more independent and responsible, but also just provide some very welcome company.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
