Hello,
I got my beardie, now 2 and a half years old, around 6 months ago. But he wont. ever.touch.or eat, anything that is not worms (any kind), crickets, etc.The only way I can feed him veggies, is to cut very think slices of carrot, bell peppers, squash, and mustard leafs or collard greens, I have to put it in between his lips a little bit, and that triggers him (sometimes) to eat it. I never force/shove food in his face, but i can tell he sometimes doesnt like the method, alhough he can tolerate it most of the time. But any kind of leaf, he wont touch. Even tho I offerhim a fresh plate of veggies every day.
I have tried for many months to simply offer him fresh food every day, iv put worms in his salad but he is smart and catches them all, eating only 1 or 2 veggies. Tried "decorating" the veggies like putting red bell pepper, yellow buttersomething squash, and mustard leafs and collard greens (sometimes I change it up). But to no avail.
Then I was told, and have been told a suggestion to help him eat his food on his own, is to withhold the live food insects, for 4-5 days. Well, today is the fifth day, with fresh cut veggies every day offered twice (so it stays fresh all day), and I was wondering if I should keep going longer. I hate having him not eat, I also heard bearded dragons can go along time without food, but my poor beardie he is always so happy with his feeders. But he is 2 1/2 years old and needs to eat some veggies.
So any help will be great! Thank you!
