Well I was wondering how hot is to hot for dubia. My room usualy reaches 100+f during the day in the summer even with A/C blasting in the rest of the house. Should i get a portable A/C for my room or should theey be fine? right now it is 85f out side and 90f in my room

Iguess i will have to move them downstairs. It can get up to 120-130F easy in this room. I cant wait for winter so i can be cool while i sleep the days away

and your probe is an inch above your heating pad? And the probe is sandwiched between the egg cartons and the tub/heating pad?

It is sitting on the bottom of the bin. Remember heat rises but as it rises it gets cooler. The dubias can go to the bottom to get warmer or go to the top to cool off, they can also go to the other side of the bin to cool off.

I totally understand your setup now....if your probe is showing 95-98 degrees then the odds are your ambient is not 95-98 degrees unlike the original poster who is worried about such temps....

Your temps could fluctuate(ie: gradient across the tub) severely in the winter in a 60 odd degree room.....

I myself have used medical pads under bins showing temps on the pad at over 120 degrees without issue...but roaches never saw a true ambient of those temps.

If his room ambient is 90+ degree....he will have little to no acceptable gradient to offer....which is very bad.

When I lived in the south many of the houses were built with concrete floors....they normally stayed fairly cool in dark closets or corners....maybe a possible place to keep your roaches?

also if he plans to run a lid on his tub...be sure to monitor humidity....dubias seem to be capable of producing their own....

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
