how do i stop my viv stinking?

Hi guys just wondering if there is any ideas on how to stop my viv from smelling? Its started getting quite bad an making my house smell . I use sand substrate an wonder if this doesent help? d i use kitchen towel wot is best to use? many thanx.

it's probably the sand. It's not the most sanitary. Paper towels, newspaper, reptile carpet and tile are all good to use.

Sand is bad for them anyhows with the risk of impaction, but I think anything loose would be a breeding ground for bacteria and that would be where the smell is coming from.

I am sure someone with more knowledge will be able to tell you more. I am just a newbie, aint even got my beardies yet lol, but am on the countdown to next weekend.

thanks people and good luck with your future dragons, one more question is reptile carpet expensive and how easy to clean?

reptile carpet is not very expensive, and you can just throw it in the washer like clothes. If you go that route, I recommend getting 2 sets so you can immediately replace it when you take it out the other for cleaning.
