How did you name your baby?

I've met so many people on this site with unique names for their beardies and I thought it'd be fun to share stories of where their names came from.

I got Yoshi as a birthday present from my good friend Mario. I was going to name him Blaze or Maverick but one night my cousin said, "Since Mario is getting him for you, his name should be Yoshi." And so it was decided.

His former owner called him Bowser, but I wanted to rename him, and I was listening to the Ender's Game audiobook when I got him. And he's so good at eliminating all the buggers.

The spikes on sparks beard reminded me of sparks coming out of a broken wire!.

I was on a Metallica Guitar Hero kick when I got Larz. In fear of being sued for copyright infringement I changed the "s" to "z".

I named Elliot after Elliot the dragon from the book "Pete's Dragon".

my boyfriend said that's what i should have named my beardie, because when i was a kid, Elliot was my imaginary friend lol.

he should have mentioned it sooner though. i didn't know what to name my beardie mostly because i didn't know what sex he was, so while he was getting settled he was just "the baby." i was even using gender-neutral pronouns because i didn't want to assume the "standard male." finally i got a good look at him, and as i was looking he pooped on me. then, he fell asleep on my chest. lol. the name Archer (from the FX animated show) was already swimming around in my head, but it was immediately decided after it was clear he was sort of an endearing jerk. he hasn't pooped on me since, which is awfully nice of him, but we do still continue our nighttime cuddles with him sleeping on my chest. this arrangement may get awkward once he's bigger. he's still a baby though.

I just thought Medusa would be a cute name for a bearded dragon, haha. Maybe it would be a more appropriate name for a snake, but it's stuck now. Plus beardies are way cuter than snakes. The younger one is named Loki, and boy does he act as such. He is a runner. He got outside twice, and he's so small we almost lost him!

Well,I don't really have a good story about how I got the name,but when I saw her "Sunny" was the first thing that popped into my head. I tried out different names for a few days,but Sunny just stuck I guess it makes sense for beardies 'cuz they love to bask in the sun so much lol 8)

I was driving back from the twin cities, roughly 2 hours from where I am from. Me and a buddy of mine where trying to figure out what to name the dragon I had just bought. My dragon has a highlight of orange on the back and my friend was like "He kinda looks like a cheeto." And i said thats a perfect name!!! lol :headbang: And so as soon as we decided that was what i would call it we stopped and bought a bag of cheetos cause talkin about it sure made us crave some cheetos.

I named my baby beardie Sebastian for three reasons:
1) I LOVE the name!
2) It reminds me of lizards.
2) I thought it'd be ironic to name him after the crab in The Little Mermaid, a water creature, while beardies are desert creatures. Idk, i'm an english nerd like that. :dontknow:

Ormie is technically named ORMR (all caps lol) because it's Norse for "dragon" and the dragon is actually supposed to be my step-son's...it was a christmas present last year and he was really into Vikings and stories of the Atlantic...and Dave's nickname is "Rig" which means King b/c we call him King Dave...anyway...so ORMR it was...(RIG and ORMR, the king and his dragon) until we found out he was a SHE and it had to go to Ormie. And she likes to spell it with a heart dotting her 'i' with a middle name of Lillian to make doubly sure everyone knows she's a SHE...Dave's a little disappointed his dragon has a pink bed and doesn't like skulls and swords...but hey...what can you do!? LOL!!!

and yes, I stole the dragon, STOLE a handicapped child's bearded dragon and I think it's MINE. I'm pretty sure my way is paved straight to hell. Dave wants a boy dragon (we're working on the rest of the fam) and we'll have to think of another name...Sol maybe. for the sun... and I promised him I'd never hold it. :| *gulp*

When I got my cat, I wanted to keep the Mario theme but the only girls on Mario are Peach and Daisy so I didn't wanna use one of those. Then I thought of Heath Ledger's daughter for some reason and named her Matilda and call her Tilly.

If I get another dragon, though, I think I will stick with the Mario theme if possible. Maybe Koopa or something. LOL

Hey, my sister's guinea pig's name is Matilda, Tilly for short. Haha :lol:
