Hmmm...if they can be "overdone" on calcium would be something good to know before using the worms and dusting them!

I have seen some people say that babies eat up to 100 crickets a day. Is this how many worms I should expect him/her to eat?

Maybe more worms than crickets, actually, because they're smaller. The only way to find out how much your beardie will eat is after you have it.

from my very short experience I think that those numbers greatly count on the size of the crickets being small.

They say the cricket should be no longer than the space between the dragons eyes. From just my experience today with these pinheads, which fit two to three between his eyes, he ate about 50 in one 15 minute session.

Do you keep feeding until the beardie stops eating to get a good idea of how many the beardie will need?

I'm sorry if these questions sound stupid...just more and more questions keep popping into my mind! I don't want to under OR over feed!

See how many he will eat in 15 minutes. If he eats all that, you can try giving him more later. The dragon will stop eating when its full, so don't worry about over feeding, its under feeding that you have to worry about.

They can be put right back in the container.

Just to warn you, even large Phoenix worms are tiny!!! Kazi could have polished off about 350 per day when he was little (he got a 10 minute feeding, twice per day). If you do go with Phoenix worms, go for the medium size - they last a little longer than the large size and are a better size for beardies. As he gets older tho, they will be too small for him.

Hello there and welcome to the site! I just wanted to say I've had beardies for almost 2 yrs. I let my grandbaby play and hold our beardies since he was about 5 months old. He would try and help me with everything. He even fed them worms and roaches when he hit a yr old hes a baby with no fear. No one has ever been sick because of them. Id get a big pump bottle of the hand sanitizer and place it next to the viv anyone who touches them would need to use it before and after just to keep everyone safe. Thats what we do here. Its the poo that can make you ill but who wants to eat that? We use unsented babywipes to clean up the poo cause you will want to right away cause its stinky lol

Yep start with the medium. They are def small enough for a baby. The larges are small enough too but I always found they died very quickly and really aren't noticeably bigger than the mediums. As he gets bigger tho u will need to find an alternative such as the roaches

T - Thanks for the heads up about the worms. I would have probably been highly disappointed if I had ordered the x-small ones!!

So, I went to Petco today to get two 40 gallon tanks (one for my classroom and one for home) since today was the last day of the sale. As I was waiting for the sales guy to get the tanks, I was looking at their baby dragons and saw this poor little baby leaning up against the glass.

He was so skinny and his little belly was all sunken in! He looked so sad, I just couldn't bear to leave him at the store! (This must be that need to rescue all beardies that everyone on this forum seems to get after falling in love with beardies!!) Soooo...after leaving the store and getting a good portion of the way home, my partner and I decided to turn the car around and go back for him. (I keep calling it a him, but I'm not sure if it is a boy or girl!) We talked to the manager and asked her if they'd come off the price since he was so sickly looking. They agreed to sell him for $15 with the understanding that I knew he looked sick and may not make it. When I first held him, he was FREEZING to the touch and very still. So we got home, and got his basking rock set up. He hasn't left it except for a few exploratory runs around the tank since we got home about 4 hours ago. The poor little guy is getting all warm now...

Oh grats on your new little one. Ive done that a few times myself you see that cute little face and you just cant resist.

Id soak him every day for the first week to make sure hes good and hydrated and food food food. Pet stores never feed them enough. Hes a real cutie!
