Well that's odd. Does he do it often, or has he only done it once? Does he have any hides other than the frog to go in?

Hes a cutie. Never heard of a beardie having issues with a reptisun 10. My new little guy is 8 inches from his with a creamy white belly he just got here yesterday. I wonder if something else has him scared/stressed maybe something outside the viv.

I use the summer lights of 14 on 10 off and in the winter i do the 12 on 12 off lighting. All of mine go to bed before its time for lights out. As long as they were basking, eating and active i just let them go nighty night a hour or two early.

He's still active and alert. He is eating and pooping. His belly is usually creamy white and he seems happy but he gets stressed very easily. I don't know what I'm doing wrong...

Oh your not doing anything wrong when little these guys stress easy. I have one that if you turn on a fan he flips out. I have 1 who hates the TV. I have one who dosnt like strangers in the home. Its nothing we do wrong its just them. You will learn what he likes and dosnt as he grows. What might help him if you dont already have it done is cover the back and 2 sides of the viv so he can only see out of the front of the viv that helps alot with the little guys. Your doing a great job :D

Help! So I've had the lil guy for 2 months or so now. School started back 2 weeks ago, and I still haven't taken him to the classroom. When I first got him, he didn't seem to mind being held. Now, I think that was more because he didn't feel well or didn't have enough strength to fight me on it. Well, he has since started avoiding being held at all cost! When I try to pick him up, he runs around the tank like crazy! When I finally catch him, he tries to jump out of my hands. Bathing him has become hard because he is hard to hold onto, since I'm scared that I'll hurt him or he'll hurt himself when he jumps. The last week or so, he has gotten even more angry about being held...so angry he's at the point that he's attempting to bite me. He's bit me twice, and just hit me with his tongue multiple other times. Today, I went to get him for his bath and he kept lunging at my hand trying to bite. The bite doesn't hurt or anything because he's still a lil guy (not as small as when I got him, but still small), but I don't want it to keep up like this for when he does get bigger. Plus, if he continues to act like this, I won't be able to take him to the classroom. (I was told that if you try to pick them up with cold hands, they'll act like this. But my hands are VERY warm....more like hot, actually!)

What can I do?? Is this just going to be his personality or do they all go through this stage as a juvenile?

I didn't read through your entire thread but here is my experience. My little guy just hit 3 months. I've had him since he was about 5 weeks. And he did the exact same thing, but never actually bit me. Now he's calming down because I just kept doing what people suggested. Don't back down, and keep handling him. Now I can go in and pick him up and he just doesn't care anymore lol.

My suggestion is keep handling him, he will come around. You won't believe it until it happens but just keep at it.

You can try putting a t-shirt that smells like you in with him. He will get used to your smell and realize that you won't hurt him. The licking is not a threat, but rather a way of sensing. I actually consider them "kisses" from my two as they will come up and lick my chin.

How clean are your hands?

Do you use lotion?

Do you use one of those disinfectants with a scent or that leaves a residue?

Have you changed perfumes.

Wash your hands with hot water and soap rinsing until the soap and scent is gone.

Like others have said keep handling him. The thing with training any animal is remaining calm and unaffected by their behavior. Don't let them win and keep at it.

Mine begs to get out of her tank every night to fall asleep on me.

Another thing might be that you're not there every day anymore. When you got him you were home more often and he got to see you moving about the house. Now the house is still for longer periods of time. Maybe going ahead and bringing him to school would ease him some?

Good luck.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
