Housing two beardies together?...

Uhh.. got some drama with my beardies. My oldest one, the girl names sunshine who is like 4 months old has lived with me for a month and dosnt like to be picked up or eat very often.. shes very pretty and has some high colored orange. well yesterday at the reptile show here in arlington,tx i got a hypo male. who is like 3 months old, but bigger than sunshine. (not by much.. theyre maybe a few centimeters difference) Hes beautiful, i really think theyre gonna make good babies. i have a 20 gal long tank, 75W basking light, reptiglo tube, everything everyone recomends, but when i put them together, she FREAKED got all big and tough and started picking a fight with the new hypo, and he was in a smaller tank with like 17 other males that he was usually never with (according to the breeder) and they wernt fighting at all. Well when i saw this i freaked and went back to the show to make sure my sunshine really was a girl.. and sure enough she was. all 3 breeders there told me to let them duke it out and just make sure it dosnt get out of hand and then theyll be fine, so i went home and put them in, but this time they avoided eachother and he went to the top of the perch and she was just below it, and this is how its usually been. they walk around and when they pass eachother they get big and tough, but keep going thier own ways. ever since the hypo has been in the tank, now she wants to eat, she wants to be picked up.. its like shes jelous? can this happen? will they eventually calm down and co-exist? and for some reason the male likes to jump out of the cage, and he likes to hang on the wire mesh that covers the top of the lid.. im afraid hes gonna pull a nail or a finger out.. what do i do about that?

are you serious? It isn't like you are brand new to this forum or this is your first post....why do you think your situation will be ok when every day we tell people that this kind of thing is NEVER ok?? SEARCH, READ, LOOK

Beardies are solitary animals and after a few months old should NOT be housed together! One will always be dominant over the other causing the submissive one to not get enough food, or basking time and in the end they will end up fighting causing one to get severly hurt or killed.

Also, 20 gal is entirely to small for 1 adult beardie (when the time comes) let alone 2. You'll need at LEAST a 40 gallon and light set ups for EACH beardie.

You really need to get your new little out of the current enclosure and get them both set up for success w/ new tanks/light etc.... And before you go and buy new lights, make sure you're getting the proper ones. Do some research here on the board and save yourself some time, money and heart ache.

Good Luck!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
