Ok, I am going to try and make this short and sweet.

I have a two year old, male beardie. Completely chill. Just hangs out on his basking log all day and loves to be handeled.
My girlfriend works at PetSmart and they have a beardie that was for sale and no one bought him. He is roughly five months old. Because of his size they are "discounting him".

Do you think they would be ok together or no? I am relatively familiar with the whole dominance issue but what are your thoughts...
Thanks.

I know you are hoping for a " yes " .....but it's not a good idea. Your adult male will probably attack, and they have a surprising amount of jaw strength, could do a lot of damage. The newer dragon will be traumatized coming to a new home and might even be stressed just seeing the bigger lizard. Best to keep them out of view of each other.

Was hoping for a yes but I know your right. Guess I just needed to hear it from someone else. Sad.

No they will eventually turn on one another weather it is through food or aggression on one another. Just remember it is better to be safe then sorry.

Yeah I tried asking the same question once....haha..My girl keeps wanting me to but my two 3 month old beardies together, but I hear its a no no here...Ive place them together before, and the slightly bigger one always crawls on top of the small one...Thats not a good sign already, so they are only together now when it bath time...I have them in different tanks....Its too bad, cause Id save alot of space lol...

I have a question that is related....if you don't house them together and you get them both out will they instantly attack each other or do you think they will be ok? I'm just wondering if I had them both out at the same time would that cause problems?

also could the small one dominate the larger one? I know that sounds crazy but say you have an older lazier dragon and a younger dragon that is almost full grown. The younger one starts to climb on the older one while the older one just sits there. Has that ever happen?

Yes it is very possible that is why you need to keep a close eye on them if you do put them together cause they can turn at anytime. And it is possible for the younger one to be the dominate one.

It would be great if you could but I know you can't. I don't mind housing seperately I wish they could be out of their enclosure
together.

I have two beardies, an older female (about 6 years) and a younger male (almost 2). While he is bigger than she is, she is often the more dominant one. I bathe them together, and since I am literally hovering over the edge of the tub, we have never had any problems. Occasionally, she will charge over to him and attempt to bite the spikes around his head. Right after brumation, he was very eagerly trying to make little dragon babies, but he has calmed down quite a bit since they have been awake a while. I have their tanks stacked atop one another; when I had them at the same level, he would constantly try to headbob and intimidate her. She would arm-wave and sulk in the corner. She is constantly relaxed and more like a living rock than an active pet, but she does get her way when she wants to. You could get them out together, but I have to constantly deal with one being jealous of the other, possessive of me, and territorial of whatever they are on/in. When I take them outside, I have two huge clear rubbermade-type tubs I put them in. They can't see eachother, but that way at least I have them within a few feet of each other and they can not get hurt.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
