Housing multiple beardies

Ive heard so many people say not to house more than one together but ive had owners say they housed 3 together peacefully. how true is this? I currently have 3 beardies living together and none of them show any agression or dominance. Frankenstein is the first bearded dragon i bought and i rescued 2 more babies. im just curious becuz of the long term situation for them, i never want to put my babies under stress or hurt them. I know alot has to do with sexual maturity but i know all of you would know more than me. Im still a newbie

Housing beardies together is never a good idea. Sometimes, we misinterpret bearded dragons' behavior or try to give them human qualities. What may seem like cute, innocent behavior, is actually a display of dominance. For example, when beardies lay on top of eachother, they are not being cute, they are competing for dominance. It is not always fighting and aggression. One beardie will usually win out and get the best food and light, while the other lives in its shadow. They are solitary animals and they don't want a friend.

If you house two males together, they will fight and at least one will end up dead.

If you house a male and a female, the male will continuously try to mate with the female and cause her stress.

If you house two females together, you MAY get lucky, but more often than not, you will get two beardies that are constantly competing for the best food and the best lighting.

And don't forget, if one of your beardies gets sick, it could very easily pass on illness or parasites to the others.

well i have 2 females and is there anyway of getting them used to each other? maybe for future room mating because beardies do play. and need exercise and get more of it when there are others

well just like ChiefsDaddy said they are very solitary creatures they dont want anyone to play with them they like being alone so you cant look at the way we want them to be we have to look at what they want to be now dont get me wrong i have heard beardies living togther for along time and never caused any problems but i wouldnt trust it because its a slim chance that your beardies will live in harmony together it all depends on the bearded dragon itself but i do know if you house a male and a female togther the female will get stressed because the male will repeatly mate with her but since you got two females like i said its best to separate them so you wont run into any problems cause females can fight eachother as well too so if you do house them together your taking a risk i wouldnt recommend it they can still excerise just take them outside when its warm and let them roam around as long as your paying attention to them and put them on a leash so they dont escape as said before they are solitary creatures they dont really need play time

I second what ChiefsDaddy has said and encourage you to read that link. Beardies do NOT want a friend nor will they "play" with other dragons. They're not dogs, they're reptiles. If you want your girls to get exercise, let them out of their vivs and run around. I have a small play pen for my adult female set up so I don't have to constantly monitor where she is. She runs around in there and along the couch/screen porch when I can supervise her.
