Housing 2 Beardies Together

Okay so I'm a teenager who had an obsession with Bearded Dragons. I was finally able to purchase 2 of them on the 1st of July, and they were both about 2 weeks old. Mufasa is a tad but bigger than Zeus, but not by much.

I currently have a 40 gallon tank, but there is a piece of plexiglass separating the two Beardies. I have two separate basking lights, and a UVB light reaching both basking spots. The temps are always in the high 90's to lower 100's during the day and go down to low 80's at night. ReptiCarpet is their substrate, amd they have pretty regular bowel movements. They both eat a regular scheduled amount of crickets and veggies everyday, and are very adventurous when out of the tank.

Growing up, they both would lay on top of each other every now and then, but no big issues. It wasn't until last week that I put the plexiglass between them, because they began to head bob a little bit. I figured this was the best idea, since I can't really afford another entire closure.

When I have both of them out of the tank, they each explore my room with no issues. Although, when they are both on the hammock they look at each others reflections in the glass and Zeus (smaller) becomes stressed. It seems to always happen.

I understand that in the future I may have to separate them, especially since they are still too young to determine the sex. Although for now, does anyone have any tips for decreasing the stress for both of them? Zeus almost always has marks on his belly, and I just don't know what to do to help him.

Any help is much appreciated. :)

Hi there. The best thing you can do is get them a separate enclose. I know your trying to do your best, but beardies do need their own space and doing what you are is still not good. Plus they are solitary. Can you tell use what kind of lights like the brand and if tube ,coil or compact also how do you take temps and what are they?

Seperating them in any manner is better than not separating them.

You can use aquarium silicone sealant to hold the sheet in place
(keep them out of it until all the fumes clear as the fumes released while it's curing are
quite toxic ... which can take 24-48 hours).

However, you really need to get another enclosure asap. A 40 breeder tank is really the
bare minimum for a single adult beardie, and 1/2 of a 40 breeder is way too small for
anything but the youngest ones.

I would tape a brown paper bag to both sides of the plexiglass so they can't see each other, then start saving up for 2 40gal longs at the minimum. Keep your eyes out for sales. I bought my 40gal at PetSmart and it was the last one so I lucked out and paid $74 for a $160 tank. I know Petco often has a $1 a gallon sales, so keep your eyes open for that. I'd say try to get 2 new ones within the next month to two months max because they grow fast.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
