Housing 1000 crickets

I bought a blue Rubbermaid container that is 22x15x12 cut a square out of the top 4x7 and put screen mat then hot glued it.... I have egg crate and toilet paper tubes inside with cricket food and water gel.....I want to know is this a big enough enclosure for 1000 crickets because it seems like I'm getting alot of deaths...... Is there any plans on this site that show how to make a good enclosure????

sounds like an 18 gallon tote. I keep several thousand in one. Just make sure you have lots of hides(paper towel tubes, egg crates, etc) and food and water. You will have a few deaths, especially if you bought adult criks. Just an end of life cycle. If you are only feeding one or two dragons, order 3/4 inch criks next time. They live longer because they have not reached adulthood yet. Hope this helps

Today I got a 66 Quart clear blue Rubbermaid Roughneck tote and I hope this one works out better .... I made the whole in the lid 16x7 so there will be alot more airflow I'm hoping... I know the crickets were escaping out of the other tote because i found them all over the house...I read somewhere that the clear plastic Rubbermaid's work out better because the sides of the tote are slicker so the crickets cant clime out of the tote , I'm hoping this is true

I have the clear one too...seems to work great! Just don't let the crates/rolls get too high or they like to hide on the top!!! haha! We don't have too many deaths but inevitably there are always some. I find more adults dead than anything. Some little ones but usually just lots of sheds in there! ick!
