EWWWWW...no way ever on the roaches. I live in the deep south and roaches are not ever in my home. I pay hundreds of dollars to get rid of them. Not to mention I am terrified of them. As for supers...not interested due to the exoskeleton, and my dragons are too small anyway. I was just wondering if hornworms are a good staple. I like for my dragons to have a varried diet. I see all live feeders are marked in black on the beautiful dragons feeding chart. So was not sure. I did order some from Greatlakes to see if my guys even like them.

rob from greatlakes is awesome and his hornworms are good and healthy your just going to see that it gets costly to keep ordering hornworms your best bet is roaches as lance said my wife wasnt to thrilled and had your veiws on them and now after dealing with them she says they arent to bad the dont look like a roach more like a huge rollie pollie and they really are the best way to go

I recieve horworms from Rob@ GrealakesHornworm every other week and they are great for gravid females but I don't use them as a staple. The easiest live feeder is superworms. You can buy 1k and keep them in a sterilite tub of peete moss, a little moisture, a carrot 1 time a week, at room temperature and they'll last for months. In addition, dusted collard greens and you're set.

That's the simplest feeding regiment for a dragon large enough for supers.

We order our hornworms from great lakes also. Our beardies love them! Yes, they get expensive and they also eat like pigs and grow really, really quick. You would have to feed them off quickly before they got too big.

Why not try silkworms? Raising them sounds a bit challenging, but once you get the hang of it, it should pay off. Not to mention, they sound like an excellent staple (they are also the only feeder that's green on the beautiful dragons chart). Plus, they don't gross me out nearly as much as roaches or other worms do.

Roaches are the best feeders for your dragon. I live in FL they die almost instantly being in the cool airconditioning and are nothing like palmetto bugs.

i have lobsters and discoids as well as horn worms and silk worms i have a feeder bussiness so thats why i have so much but i can tell you roaches are way better than crickets and once you get them your fear will be gone once you see how they are not that bad and your dragons will love you for it silkworms are great feeders as well but if yourlooking to save money and feed your dragons the best food possible roaches are the way to go

I dont have dubia. I have lobster roaches.

I see your somewhat close minded on the subject.

Good luck

Quite honestly I must tell you this post has hurt my feelings and made me pretty upset. So lets clear up some FACTS here.
1)I did not ask for an opinion on what was the best or better feeder, I simply asked about hornworms and wether they could be used as a staple.
2) I am obviously trying to be the best beardie parent I can be as I am asking questions and not assuming I know anything.
3) I never asked about reducing the cost of the feeders, I am feeding.
4) I have a true PHOBIA of roaches from the largest to the smallest....so DO NOT presume to tell me I am colse minded,

In my adult life I have managed to over come many fears and this is one I have tried working on and I have not managed to conquere this one. Another poster said his wife felt the same and I even tried to look at the different options online and could not even look at them, as I immediatley went into a panic attack. So thank you sir or madam for making me feel like I should not come here to ask my questions for fear of being JUDGED or ridiculed. I truly hope at some point in your life when you are faced with a challenge another will not treat you as you have presumed to treat me.

In reply to many on here, my dragons are well fed and loved and other then the roaches, I have tried and will continue to try suggestions from those with more experience. My goal is to have happy healthy dragons and I doubt if they never eat a roach they are going to be living miserable lives. For those whom actually answered the question thank you so much, the hornworms we got from Greatlakes seemed to do the trick and My Mushu and Cosmo are back to eating well again. And for those who suggested Supers...thanks a lot I did some more research and fed Mushu a couple 2 days in a row, and she loves them.BTW she is 17 1/2 inches long for those who didnt know.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
