Hiya all been a while since I've poster, our little beardy is about 7 months old and growing very well! 15" head to tail :) but he/she has got up this morning okay and was eating and chasing bugs but now he/she is led down in the corner and looks all sad :(

Also he/she looks as if they are going to shed again.

Thanks in advance.

what are the temperatures on either side of the cage, and what's the humidity level?

If she's going dark it's because she's too cold and trying really hard to absorb more heat from her surroundings.

Why is the substrate taped down ? how often is this obviously putrid looking substrate replaced (if ever) ?
The above comment was very harsh and certainly could have been worded more politely. The OP came here looking for help and suggestions but not ridicule. We encourage new members to feel comfortable with posting any questions or concerns they may have so we can help them out & offer suggestions. Please try to phrase things differently and think how you would feel if someone had responded to you in the same way that you responded to them.

Temperatures in her tank ? how are you measuring them.

Another obvious problem is her hammock , it's made from shade cloth / mesh and it is an obvious nail snagging hazard , I recommend removing the shade mesh hammock immediately.

You know what, I was just looking for a bit of advice and you jump to all conclusions possible.. the Putrid looking substrate is brown paper, great for young ones and quick and easy to change and I've stuck it down with tape so the crickets don't get underneath.. the temperature are fine and the hammock he/she doesn't climb on anyway it's more of a hide.. your comment has really pissed me off tbh and was really rude..

If you ask for advice , expect to get it .

I have eyes and those were the obvious issues I CAN SEE.

It is hard to put it delicately sometimes and, yes it could have been worded better.
In the pic it looks like there was smeared poop. This promotes bacteria growth and can make them I'll. Not to mention they run from their poop, lol!

When more experienced people give you advice - listen to them otherwise you are wasting our time.

Bad tank hygiene is indicated here.

I'm sorry if this upset you we didn't mean it to do that. A lot of times tweaking the husbandry will help some of these problems and, most of the time this is all that needs to be done. Some folks take it the wrong way when we try to help them but, we don't mean anything bad by it. If simply cleaning the cage more often helps your dragon that's great. You did ask the question and that is the best thing you could do.
Sometime just lighting, sometimes it is the substrate and, sometimes it's a night light problem but all can be remedied with a simple question and, an answer. There is no shame in it cause if you don't know you don't know. This is why we all came here....to learn.
I Wish Your Dragon well, keep us updated.

All my pet lizards have hated having their tanks smelly, dirty or soiled , demanding something be done by their human slaves PRONTO.

Hi Moonbed, your dragon is a very good size for his age indicating your good care + feeding thus far. :) Sometimes they do tend to hide when going in to a shed. But just to check on other possible contributing factors, how old + what type of uvb do you have ? Some of them stop giving off uvb after 6 months even though they still produce light. That can affect their behavior....but I do think it has more to do with his mood + possible shedding.

And you can always contact one of the mods. [ Diamc, Drache613] when you feel that other posters are being aggressive, that's your right.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
