Hi there,
I'm new to the forums, but I've been a beardie owner for 2 1/2 years now. I bought Bruce at the pet store where I worked, mostly because I had an empty, unused 90g tank at home and because I felt sorry for him. The person who had previously owned Bruce was a 13 year old boy who lost interest and stopped feeding every day, and actually went down to feeding maybe 3 or 4 times a month. Bruce was already a year old (at least) when I got him, and he was incredibly stunted. When I first brought him home, he would scarf anything I put in front of him, to the point where his belly would drag on the ground. He would easily eat 100 crickets in one sitting (if I let him!). This went on for 8 months, with him shedding approx. every 3-5 weeks while he grew to the size he was supposed to be. In August, he went into brumation and slept for 5 months solid. Once he woke up, his feeding was that of your average beardie. And we went thru another year without incident.
Approx. 2 months ago, to my very great surprise, I was walking by Bruce's tank and happened to see what looked like an egg. My Bruce is now Brucella and has laid 2 very small clutches (7 and 5). =D
Anyways, that's our story, and I'm looking forward to hearing other people's stories as well!
