G'day all.
Just found your forum and thought I'd sign up, today I acquired my first ever beardie, well, my first ever lizard if you don't count the little skinks I used to find in my grandparents backyard and keep in an icecream container for the day back when I was a kid.
My name is Mads, I'm from Melbourne, (in Australia), I've kept a home zoo in my time, but I've never kept lizards. My reason for getting a BD? -Well, I was keeping a centralian python for a number of years, but since I got pregnant with my son (who's now 2 years) I lost my nerve in handling him. I felt terrible that I wasn't being a responsible pet owner when I couldn't even handle my own pet so I found another snake lover that I adopted him out to. Little did I realize how attached I'd become to my snake even though he didn't come out of his cage very often. I missed him, he lived in our bedroom and I used to watch him in his enclosure every night. there was a hole in our little family (well, not that little, I'll get to that further on)....
well, it's been less than a week and I've studied up, bought a viv of ebay, kitted it up and now I've got myself a lovely little red phase BD, the pet shop said it's about 6 months old, here's a picture of it, I'm calling it Dolarhyde (yes, I'm a Thomas Harris fiend)....
I'm a total newbie with BDs so you might see me on the board asking basic questions, but hopefully things will go well for us, and I wont need to ask ER questions!
Apart from the newest member of our family, we also keep fancy goldfish in a 7'x2'x2' tank, although I'm slowly winding that tank down, as I want to start over with a planted tank... A couple of big water bowls out back with basic gf, I've got a fully planted 4' viv with 5 GTF's, an axolotl from a bunch I reared from eggs 2 years ago, and two chinese crested dogs who are as mad as cut snakes  ... We've also got a 2 year old kid as stated above and we all live happily (if not a bit cramped) in a 2 bedroom apartment.
Looking forward to browsing this board and meeting some of you!
