My bearded dragon (I don't know if its male or female) used to be so calm. When we took him out of his viv he would let us hold him as long as we wanted. He used to be very calm in his viv too. About a month ago he started doing lots of glass dancing for a good part of the day. I thought it was time for a bigger viv so we got a 40 Breeder just about 2-3 weeks ago. It hasn't calmed him down at all! He glass dances almost all day and when we take him out to hold him he immediately tries to get away from us. We have always taken him out of his viv to get exercise and he never used to be this wild. Its not very fun getting scratched up every time we take him out :( Any thoughts on why he has changed and what I can do to get him to calm down?!? Thanks!

Hello and sorry your pooper is acting like that for you. Lets run over your setup just to make sure it is not that. What type of UVB and how old is it you are using? What are your temps on the basking side and cool side also how are you measuring the temps? Do you use any substrate? He may still have a bit of relocation stress from the move. I would wear a tee shirt all day and at night I would wrap him in it this way he gets your scent into him. Also what are you feeding? Are you bathing him? I hope this helps! Any more questions just ask! :D

Sprocket goes through phases like that... some times he is really, really calm almost to the point of being lazy, and other times he goes nuts! Glass dancing, jumping off his log to try to get out, etc. I think it has something to do with the seasons, but I haven't exactly pinpointed with seasons lead to which behaviors...

I use repti- carpet for his substrate and he eats crickets and collard greens every day. I bathe him once a week and I am using the Repti Sun 10.0 UVB bulb. (I think I have been using it for about six months). I measure his temps with a digital thermometer with probe (Acu-Rite). His temps were running perfect in the 20L cage he was in, but I am having a hard time getting his temps up in his 40 Breeder. I was wondering if the lower temps was why he was acting so wild, but he was acting like this in his smaller cage too. The cool side is 75 and the basking site is 95. I know that is way too low, I can only find 100 watt bulbs at the store and it won't bring up the temps. I put two 100 watt bulbs on top of his cage and it still isn't bringing up the temps. I ordered a basking bulb online that is 150 watt. I am hoping that will bring up his temps. I am just waiting for the bulbs to arrive.

My dragon has been displaying much the same problems. My Reptisun 10.0 is about 6 months old as well. Lately, Rafiki has been climing the walls, trying to move the top. He has gotten out twice. And lately if I put my hand towards him from the front, he tries to bite me :(. Would the UVB be causing that kind of mood swings?

My beardie acts the exact same way. And he has also been way more jumpy than normal. Everything thing about your set up is the same as mine but the UV bulb was changed less then a month ago. When he does this i usually just let him roam free in a big room. Let him tire himself out. And also it is time for breeding in Feburary.

That was my thought also. Star is acting like a nut, too. She went thru the cat door & down the basement stairs all by herself  I figured it was the time of year and her new mega ray making her too happy. Daylight is getting longer and animals respond more quickly to the light cycles than us. Spring is around the corner kids! I always get my cuddles in at bed time. Sleepy dragons like to cuddle more.
