Here Comes Chomper...

Chomper is my bearded dragon. He loves food and basking. He can be friendly but can also be mean. He lives in a 29 gallon fish tank and has a daytime basking light, a red night light, and a 10.0 uvb bulb. I'm not sure how old he is but he is approx. 13" from snout to tail.

He gets Bearded Dragon Bites, canned grasshoppers, canned crickets, freeze dried crickets, superworms, live crickets, romaine lettuce, carrots, apple. He also gets a multivitamin supplement in the form of both spray and powder and of course calcium powder. He has shed twice since I got him. I give him warm baths sometimes and he gets to hang out with me and explore almost everyday. I do have a few questions.

1. how can I bond better with him? Right now I just set him on my lap and feed him by hand a lot.
2. Do bearded dragons pose a threat to each other? My friend has a larger beardy of the opposite gender and we want them to be friends. How could we introduce them?

Hello. It can take time to bond. Just handle him everyday and you can put a piece of cloth f in his cage so he can get your smell. And you can try putting them together. But they might be aggressive to each other just watch for this behavior. If you have any other questions just post them

If you're going to introduce your beardies I would definitely do it on neutral ground, and closely supervised. Also if they are opposite sex, unless you want babies you need to watch them even closer, it only takes a second for baby making :lol: I would wait until they are relatively close in size, and watch for behaviors. If one beardie is black bearding, head bobbing, and looking like it's going to attack the other, it's probably not a good idea to introduce these two. To answer your question, yes beardies are territorial and solitary reptiles. They prefer to live in their own space, some do okay socializing well with one another, and some don't. I wouldn't take any risks because it only takes a second for one beardie to be on the receiving end of a tail nip, or lose a limb..
