Help with fake rocks I'm making....

I started two platforms for my first DIY fake rocks... I have been slowly building them the past week. I'm on my third coat of grout.
My questions is about the little holes and cracks. Every time a new coat dries I find tiny little holes and cracks. This last coat I put on I spent like 40 mins making sure I covered every single hole and crack.... I have a feeling when it dries I will still be able to find some.

How do you prevent this? I started out with a watery coat. The second and third I have started making it gradually thicker, like pancake batter. Also, I thought it would feel more sturdy. It feels very fragile. I feel like it would shatter off the Styrofoam if I dropped it. Will this change? Or will it always feel somewhat delicate? Once I put my grout sealer on it, will it prevent scratches/scrapes? As of right now I could pick of the grout with my nails.

How long did you guys wait before putting a new coat on? I try to wait until the entire thing looks dry( takes almost a day). Is that about right?

I dunno, whenever I've made mine its always seemed pretty solid after a couple coats. I usually just do 3-4 pretty thick coats though, a little thicker than what you described your last one to be.

Yes i waited a day for every coat of grout to dry. i put 5 coats over all and in the spots where my heat source was i would add an extra layer of grout extra thick, my frist time the styrofoam melted under the grout http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc366/Finnski1/Image11.jpg

Did u put any type of sealant over the grout? You need a heat resistant sealant of some sort to go over the grout.. I personally like to use the Gorilla Wood glue.

I did use a sealent, tile,and grout sealer from homedepot, once the sealer is fully dry i dont see how it could harm her. keeps the poop easy to clean also. (tilelab) is the brand
