Do you see him making gulping movements or does he seem distressed? (black beard or odd movements) Can you get a good look in his mouth with a flashlight? I would be careful about trying to remove anything if he doesn't appear to be in distress.

Hello,

Please do update us on how is doing.
Is there anything he could have ingested from his tank that he could have gotten stuck in his throat?
As suggested, using a flashlight would be helpful, if you can manage to get a good look in his throat.

Hi, thank you. well I he seems to be ok...?? and yes, He does do a lot of gulping at times but He ate his squash n carrots right away this morning, and about 20 crickets. His bowl movements are normal although I have noticed more urine than usual so I think maybe he's been hydrating himself more. He let me rub his beard last night , small gentle patting, i thought maybe i could feel something but i really don't know what to feel for. ? lol. The only thing i could possibly think it is...maybe a tiny piece of bark from his hideaway log, that thing seems to chip a lot and I'm always picking up little crumb pieces from it off his carpet. either that or I'm just a worry wort.

Oh... and as far a distress?? His stress marks seem to be the same as usual, not a lot of them at all, and his beard is mostly white with some black in it. he turns his head just fine and slept with his head completely down last night. nothing unusual. maybe I'm just being a worry wort??? :?

It's hard to say without getting a good look. If he isn't acting unusual or distressed, then it's probably OK. It's a good sign that his beard is white and he is eating.

??

If so you can take a knife or something and actually scrape off all the bark. I did this with mine as I didn't like the bark pieces sitting in the enclosures. Just be careful, do not hurt yourself. :D

Yes that is the log i have. i took it out of his tank. he doesn't sleep under it or hide in it right now anyway. And he still has his appetite...so hopefully all is ok. thank you all for your replies! but of course I'm still worrying . whenever he gaps, i'll take a look if i can down his throat and it looks as if there is still something in there. You shouldn't see anything...right?? It should just be all pink?? my husband keeps telling me it probably part of his anatomy. but he knows just as much as me...well, actually i know more since I'm the one caring and researching everything. LOL. Im just worried that if it is something that shouldn't be in there and it not taken out, even if its not bothering him at all, he might develop something else, like an infection or something. Is there a way I can open his mouth without hurting him?? he's so little I hate do any harm :(

I put up a tutorial on covering the log with repti-carpet and yes there is a way to open their mouths without hurting them, so long as they do not struggle. It still takes finesse but, I believe I have a video of that as well.. let me get the links for you.

Hi Leann....it's highly unlikely that there's anything lodged in his throat. If he's eating, then he's able to swallow + breathe....this indicates that his throat/airway should be clear. I've never had any trouble with the hide logs, not to say that it CAN'T flake off + be ingested, but it's not likely. If you'd feel better, get a smooth branch or brick from outside, bake in a preheated oven for 45 minutes at 250 or so [ just a precaution to kill anything on it ] and use that.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
