Hi my names Duke. I just got my baby Bearded Dragon yesterday. I noticed a white patch on his tail and asked the reptile store what that was and she said it was just shed. I gave him a warm bath for about 10 mins but to me it doesnt seem to be shed i really dont know if its something i should be worried about. He eats normally and does everything normal. Also the tail seem to look rather dull, more dull then the rest of his body. Here are some pics if anyone know whats going on please share thanks alot.

You're right, that doesn't look like a normal shed to me. Usually when babies shed the tail, it's the whole tail, and it's not that white. I'm almost a little concerned it might be mold... Is it dry? Does it just look like dead skin or like something could be growing? I'm going to PM one of our mods to look at this for you.

Hello,

That doesn't look like a shed, but it does look like urates that have dried on his tail. You said that you just got him from a petstore?
Try giving another bath but use a soft bristle toothbrush & scrub that area gently. It should come off if it is dried urates on his tail.
He is a very cute little dragon! :D

Hello,

GREAT, that is what I thought it was. The color was a "bright" white which shed is just not.
I am glad that a gentle scrubbing took it off. :D So she is all nice & squeaky clean now?

I thought my beardie had something similar but I guess not. His won't come off with baths and gentle brushing, but I'm pretty sure is shedding related. Still hoping someone has an idea on what's making my beardie's head and tail look different.

I am very glad you figured this out and it wasn't anything bad. :D

Hey :) Apparently my beardie is fine. He (she?) is eating and pooping :p and even eating salad all by himself. He's a bit lazy but I attribute that to relocation stress leftovers. He's getting better everyday. I believe now it's what I was told here before, he might just have had a funky shed. He was puffing and scratching hes eyes today, so I think he's not even done yet. Laters. :blob8:

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
