help! drowned frilled dragon!

i hope no one minds that i am posting this here but alot of members are so knowlageble i thought someone could help!. my frilled dragon roxie managed to drown in her water dish some how.she was limp pupils dialated two diffrent sizes and her tounge was hanging out of her mouth, i did cpr hung her upside down drained quite a bit of water from her i got her back!. shes breathing hard i called the vet they cannot see her until tomorow said to get her ambient temp up to the mid upper 90's so i am running two heat lamps on her tank right now. any ideas to help her until she can see the vet?.

i have no idea what she did i just found her floating in her water bowl. she is breathing not as hard now but i can hear the water in her lungs. i have hung her upside down to get as much water as i could out she keeps snorting water bubbles out now and then i wipe those off her nose so she doesent suck them back in.shes very tired right now. poor little thing doesent deserve all this. she has had such a tough life i cant belive she came back.

Try to keep her on an incline so that her head is pointing down - when she goes to sleep tonight try to keep her like that.... thats all I really have... sorry I cant be more help.

Hello Katie,

Oh I am sorry about Roxie!! How is she doing?
For now, take the water dish out so she does not end up in there again. How do her pupils look now? How is her tongue, is it pink or is it pale & her gums, are they pale or pink?
Keep her comfortable, & warm over night, with as suggested, her head slightly at an angle down for any fluids to drain out.

her water dish is still in there but empty i use it to brace her branch up. she is alive but tired her eyes look normal now. she isint noisy anymore when she breathes but she is still breathing heavyier then normal and she hold her breath for a bit then takes in a few heavy breaths. her gums are pink. i tried putting her at a downward angle but she keeps correcting herself and putting her head back up.i am planning on keeping her lights running tonight to keep the temps up ambient temps are running 94 with two lights on where she has chosen to lay is 101. should i offer her food tonight or a little jump start or leave her rest?. i just cant belive this has happened i can't belive she came back as i thought for sure she was gone she was so limp her tounge and gums paper white. 1yr ago today i lost my beloved red tail boa vandetta to IBD and i nearly lost roxie today on the 1yr anniversary of his death.

I dont wanna sound bad, but i also revived my baby chinese water dragon using cpr, but i preformed it as you would on a human unfortunately he died the next day =(. I wish you and your friend the best of luck! R.I.P. Zambookie.

thought i would give an update before i go to bed. roxie drank four of those small long thin syringes full of water i dont have any water in her bowl i am afraid of her drowning again so i offered her some by syringe. she also took a freshly molted roach so i guess thats a good sign. she couldent sleep with her lights on so i shut down her lights but cranked up the wood burner so the house is nice and toasty now shes sleeping peacefully.wish her luck shes going to the vet tommorow if she walks away from this i will be amazed and she will truly be a miracle lizard!

Hello Katie,

Very good, I don't recommend keeping any water in her water dish right now. Since she is so weak right now, she could almost drown again. That is good news she did drink so much water for you though. She also had a white roach? Well, hopefully now, she is on the mend. Please let us know how the vet's visit goes today.
Just keep her a little extra warmer at night, for at least a week or so to help her ward off any impending respiratory infection she might be vulnerable to. I am pulling for Roxie!

sorry it took so long for an update! the vets clinic was 6 to 8pm and its a long drive i just got home got my two dragons medicated and off to bed!. roxie is one lucky dragon! her lungs sound good she even fought the vet!. the vet said she looks amazing compared to how bad she looked last time she laid with her legs at a funny angle tucked underneath her last time.this time she sat there and fought the vet!. what we think happened is she must have been climbing her branches and she tired out and fell into her water she is still quite clumsey and tires real easy it will take work to get her over it she works so hard to do normal things like climb branches due to having no muscle mass. the vet said to keep her extra warm and make sure she has water available but a lesser amount and to rearange her cage abit. i changed things around a bit and lessened the angle of her branches. but the vet thinks she will be ok!
