Hi,
I stumbled upon this forum when I was doing a little research on bearded dragons. We have an opportunity to adopt a 5 year old BD from a lady that my husband works with. It is her son's, but apparently he had decided not to care for it anymore, so the lady has been trying to take care of it but she's not a "lizard person". From what I understand they don't handle it, and I guess never really have. She's been feeding it with chopsticks because she doesn't like mealworms (which from reading isn't the best thing for it anyhow). I don't really know anything about it's disposition, but I'm hoping that with time and love that it would let me hold and pet it. But I have never owned a reptile and I don't know...do you think a BD could overcome 5 years of not being handled? I suppose the worst that would happen is that it won't want to be touched and I'll have to settle for sweet-talking instead.
I don't know much about it's set-up, but I can see from a picture that I got that it has sand, and so I think we will replace that with tile. I've been reading the care sheets here (which are fabulous) and getting all kinds of ideas on how to fix up it's cage too. So thanks for that, I'm learning a lot
edit: here's a pic of it http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j338/Breeley/Lizard.jpg
