My family just got our first B D on recommendation from the vet. We had to take my dog in for an emergency and the vet had a B D that is approx 8 years old. Both of my children fell in love with Geri at the vet. We had to spend quite abit of time at the vet and she convinced us (it didn't take much) that a BD would be a great new addition to our household. So we found Sami. I am still trying to find a way to measure Sami and trying to figure an age on it (sorry don't know sex yet). Sami does not like to be held and runs from me or the kids when trying to pick him up. So far the only person that is able to pick him up is the neighbor who does not get skiddish around reptiles as I do. Not because I don't like them, more because they are quick and sometimes unpredicatable. My kids are starting to get their feelings hurt because Sami won't let them pick him up. Sami also doesn't seem to be eating as well as he should according to the discussions. I think he only eats 5-6 crickets a day and will eat some greens. We have tried some babyfood as well. He is shedding so I hope that this accounts for some of the problems. The temp in the basking area is 110 and on the cool side is 85. We are waiting to get the MVB but for now we are using the bulbs that came with the set up. We have the basking bulb, the UVB bulb and a night bulb, just to keep the temps up a little. Anyways, We have had Sami for a week and have truely fallen for him, we just hope we can hold him or at least hand feed him soon.
