Hello my name is Valerie & I am am new to beardies. The first time I got to hold a bearded dragon was at my daughter's reptile birthday party this year. She Loves lizards,in fact her favorite animal is a Komodo Dragon because it is the biggest lizard lol. I think when she got to see the one at the zoo,that was probably the only time they saw a 7 yr old girl run up & say "A Komodo Dragon!! That's my favorite!" LOL :lol: anyway,so we knew we would be getting a lizard sooner or later & when I saw how calm the bearded dragon was I started researching them & other lizards & continually came up with the answer that they were the ideal pet lizard. So, I ended up finding a woman who was willing to sell me a baby at a good price,she brought 4 babies for me to see & I held all of them,but really only had eyes for the girl I chose. The first name that popped into my head was Sunny,but I still waited a few days & tried out a few different names,but none of them fit & so her name is Sunny Her birthday is March 14th,so she will be 7 weeks tomorrow,she is about 8 inches long. She is so cute & sweet.

Your daughter sounds like how mine is likely to be in a few years - mine's only 14 months old, but she already seems to have a special place in her heart for the coldblooded creatures out there, seeking out the lizards and snakes and turtles and frogs of the world. :lol: Awesome that you're willing to do that for your daughter, and help her take care of such a wonderful pet. You've made a great decision with a beardie.

How sweet! My daughter is 8 and loves our beardie far more then my 6 yr old boy! And I love my beardie while the hubby thinks I'm crazy!!!

Thanks! Her pattern is what drew my eyes to her over her siblings. they were a lighter color overall ,but I loved her pattern against her light colors

Well,Sunny is adjusting to her new home with us very well We switched her staple food from gut loaded crickets to reptiworms from Reptiworm.com.She Loves them,as soon as I put the bowl of worms in her viv she jumps right in lol, I started her with chopped collard greens & now added carrots to her salad,she seems to like it pretty well. She won't go to sleep at night until I put her in her blankie & then she will stay asleep until we come out to the living room in the morning. I bought a new home for her,the size is 40x17x18,not sure how many gallon tank that is,but I am excited about making it into an awesome viv for her...I've seen some pics of the cool ones some of ya'll have made & I hope I can make her a nice one

She's absolutely beautiful!!!!! My daughter is 3 and has to say good morning and good night to our beardies every day, and when she leaves she makes a point of telling them that she is leaving and will be back soon so not to miss her too much while she's gone!!! LOL :lol:

I took some 2months-old pics of Sunny,her tail is soo long! lol She has been shedding like crazy for the past couple of days,I thought it was just going to be her legs shedding,but I guess it's a full-body shed this time,poor girl,she's so itchy! she rubs herself along the 2 trees in her viv,there are flakes everywhere lol.

WOW.. that is one long dragon LOL!! Give her some nice warm soaks everyday to help with the shedding skin for about 10 minutes. Good hydration and it will help her shed some of that off. My older one gets so moody when he sheds, gives the stink eye all the time, stops eating and just pouts for about a week.
