Hi! My name is Rayven and Iam a special needs beardie. My human adopted me after she found out that I was abused. Iam missing a part of my tail and some toes. My human loves holding me. Iam unstable but can still move. I cant wait to show my new human what I can do! P.S. She is introducing me to college football!

Welcome for the forum! what size tank is Rayven in? It looks a little small but I could be wrong. I agree with Karrie, what type of bulbs do you have? Can You send pictures of what the lights are? The blue is a UVB is it a coil or a tube? If it is a coil, Get rid of it as soon as possible. they are health hazards. You can buy a light UVB tube and hood at a pet store or other places that have them. If it is a tube. What type of Basking bulb(yellow light) do you have?

Hope Rayven can make a quick recovery!! :)

Hello and welcome Rayven :)
Avoid colored bulbs please and stick to white ones. No blue or red(!).

If it is a MVB you would recognise it by a greenish tint in the light. That comes from the mercury and leads to very high UVB output, so placement is key.
If it is not a MVB you'll need a UVB tube additionally.

Hope she settles in well with you but looks like she's comfortable with handling already? :)

Hi everyone! So the light is a natural light (i do not have a uvb light just yet) The person that let me have him, gave me a 20ish gal size tank and a light. Pic incl. The light output is white.. I dont have much for him at the moment, will get lid and more when i get paid.

Understood.
So 20 GAL is probably too small for a MVB (you need a distance of 20" or so, otherwise the uvb output is dangerously high).

You'll want to go with a tube style uvb (arcadia 12% for example) and a decent basking bulb that gets the basking spot to right around 100°F. The uvb should be mountet inside the tank (or choose a stronger one if you put it on a mesh).

In the long run you should consider upgrading the tank to 120 GAL or so.

Let us know if you need anything ;)

The lighting in the tank is the most crucial thing for the dragon --- life or death -- you want a clear solid bright white basking bulb --- they emit UVA and that is critical to a dragon as well UVB --- not all long tube fixtures are of good quality - I can post links for good ones --- basking bulbs like Flukers basking Exo Terra Intense and Arcadia Halogens are good - NO daytime bulbs NO off white or yellowish bulbs or colored -- you also need 2 digital probe thermometers to get accurate surface basking temps -- another crucial thing for the dragon

Hi there, it's nice that Rayven found a caring owner ! There are some very specific requirements for lighting so you do need to get rid of the blue light, it's definitely not an MVB. MVB's don't all produce green light, none of the Zoo med Powersun bulbs that I used cast a green light.

So you'll need a long tube uvb for the special uvb output and a plain white bulb or reptile bulb for heat. Hope to hear more about Rayven's progress in the future ! Getting the right lights and at least just 1 digital thermometer for now is important.

Nutrition Content
ignore the kale info it is outdated and a good staple feeder
Slow and steady for weight gain --- you can offer super worms and horn worms for treats - the horn worms grow very fast so you would want to feed them off faster - supers every 1-2 days like 3 at a time -- bathing just watch him and shallow water -- dont every leave him by himself --

Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
