heat problem

Aye have a 4 year old beardie called henrick. I recently got a zoo med 150w basking buld for his viv. Am haveing trouble getting the right temps tho. Ave got a 4ft viv for him. Am wondering were to put the probe for the thermostat? A cant seem to get the basking spot right plus keep the cool end at 80f? My basking spot is away up2 115f ( i know this is to hot) while my cool end is at 78f? When a move my probe further away from basking spot it just gets higher?? The probe is abt 8" away from basking spot. Am wondering if any1 can help me. He always seems to sit in cool end alot aswell??

if the basking spot is too high and you see your dragon venting ( open mouth) a lot, then you will have to decrease the wattage of your bulb. go down to a 100 watt bulb and see if that helps get a better temp.
or you can re-position the log or rock or whatever under the bulb to try and make it cooler wherever the dragon is laying. use the probe directly under the bulb to get a maximum reading

A never c ma dragon venting to sat its to hot. He just goes to cool end and sits their. Sometimes he dosent even move from cool end to bask. A put the probe closer to basking spot. The temps went dwn to about 114f basking and 78 f cool end.My probefor my thermostat almost at basking spot. Is this normal? Usally asee the in othervivs in the middle of viv? Al try get pic of viv on before friday. So u can have better idea of my viv. Ave got a spare 100w bulb in house. A was using that before a put 150w bulb in.A leave for my workat 6.30am n a only can check temps when a get in at 5pm.
