Health benefits of night lights?

I have read that temperatures at night can safely drop to between 60-70 degrees for bearded dragons,
but is this healthy for them?

I was wondering - is there a benefit to having a heat wave lamp or coated incandescent bulb run at night?
I'm assuming the reptile would still sleep at night even if the temperatures were still warm -and- he or she would have the added benefit of being able to digest food while doing so... as well as not having to bask as long in the morning to wake up

My only problem would be that my dragon actually seems to know where the basking spot is by the luminosity generated from my current incandescent, though, I'm sure he could figure out that his basking spot would be in the same place, if I put a heat wave lamp in the same area.
he does chase that incandescent bulb though, if I move it to another area, he runs towards it, if I put it outside his viv, he runs into the glass wall after it - lol

I am concerned though, that he would fall asleep in his basking spot, and bake, is that possible?

I personally dont have any heat at night, as the day temp drops it replicates and natural drop in temp and as long as it doesnt get too low, you'll be ok. Just try and avoid feeding ur beardie too late or close to lights out, as like you say they will need a bit of time to digest.

Mine seemed more rested when I let temps drop. But generally my apartment doesn't drop below 74 at night during the summer.

Yeah, the viv at night time seems to stay in the low 70's in my bedroom, so I know thats an O.K. temperature, I was just wondering if it might have been healthier for them since a lot of people seem to use heat wave lamps etc.

there is absolutely no health benefit to having any sort of bulb at night it in any way UNLESS your house is getting below 65ish at night. As a matter of fact I think there is negative effect instead. The light at night disrupts their sleep and can make for a very unhappy dragon. Leave the lights off at night and let that dragon sleep.

You say you have read that a lot of people use them....where was that at? If it was on this board you should note responses that they have received regarding it too. They have been told time and time again to shut the lights off at night.

I've read about a lot of people leaving "heat wave lamps" on 24/7,
heat wave lamps don't generate any light, at all

I've also read about people who use the red coated incandescent lights, who have been told to turn them off at night, because red is a visible spectrum to dragons, and disrupts their sleep

I have a heat wave lamp, but am using a 60w incandescent & I shut everything off at night

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
