So there is this informational video on youtube, when I tried to point some things out to her, she actually blocked me. I'm so mad. I even tried to do a video response or make a new account but it just doesn't go through because I think youtube is recognizing my IP address. Seriously watch it though. Grant it it is not as bad as some, but still it isn't to great either. Maybe someone on here can get through to that woman. It just really worries me because that is the first thing that pops up when you type in bearded dragon. I won't give up!!!

Well spraying the cage like that will give your bearded dragon a respiratory infection in the end most likely because they can't deal with that kind of humidity. Also, that bulb the person shows is a coil bulb and it is way to close. The bulb she has in there will cause eye problems and the poor babies just looked so stressed out. Probably from the light being that close. Also, temperatures need to be at least 100-105 so your bearded dragon can digest properly. Usually babies like it hotter around 105-110, but generally it depends on the dragon. The 90 degrees that woman has it at is nuts. If you want a good list of veggies, here is one http://www.beautifuldragons.503xtreme.com/Nutrition.html

Was this you?...the comment is there with the points you are talking about.

"Well in that video you were certainly saturating the cage. I to like to keep mine hydrated, that's why he gets to swim almost every day in his bath. There are better ways to hydrate bearded dragons. If you would want to be on the safe side, you shouldn't be using a coil bulb. Those have been proven to cause eye problems. Not to mention that your if you prefer to be on the safe side you should probably up your temperatures to your bearded dragons can actually digest their food."

Uhh, misting is completely fine as long as the humidity doesn't stay high. With the lamp I have for mine, misting would keep the cage at about 50% humidity for maybe 15 minutes. Doing that once or twice a day will not cause a beardie to get a respiratory infection. The humidity would have to be high for many hours for days in a row for a respiratory infection to occur.

Also, what's so wrong with picking off shed? A friend and I do it all the time with our beardies. We don't pick it off too early, of course, but we give 'em a little help when it's flaking off.

I have to agree with Eventide regarding the misting. The moisture from misting will disipate fairly quickly and is not going to cause a respitory infections. If you were to constantly mist then it could be an issue.

I have more of a problem with the use of a compact florescnt bulb and meal worms not to mention the crickets she is feeding are a little big. I couldn't watch the whole video so there could have been other things too.

I have same question...I help Vinny with her shed, she has such a hard time getting it off of/between her toes - she gets so mad - like a cat with something stuck to its feet.

As long as the shed is loose and coming off your not going to hurt anything. If you get too impatient and work shed loose that isn't ready then you could damage their scales. So the safest answer is just to say don't pick their shed.

I watched that vid. a while ago. I posted a comment. It might have been a little rude because I was watching different care vids on bearded dragons and was getting kind of mad at all the bad advice. She thinks hot rocks are okay and that they only get 14 inches (i believe she said that )

Yeah she said they get 15 inches long... maybe she's not counting the tail???

And hot rocks? Undertank heaters???? Hello thermal burn, waiting to happen! She has no heat coming from above them. Wow.

Yea that was me. Before I got to say all I wanted to say she blocked me. The problem I had with that was she was misting the entire cage, and she was talking about doing it everyday. To me that just doesn't seem healthy. I may not have been as nice has I could have been, but she ignored my previous comments before, by just saying there was nothing wrong with misting the cage like that. She ignored everything and anything i said that was right. Especially concerning that bulb and and the temperatures...85 to 90 degrees is just fine. Ugh. And I wouldn't pick shedding. The best thing I have found is taking a tooth brush and lightly, I stress lightly brushing the areas. The toes you do have to watch though, but picking there could ruin the scales so you have to be careful.

oh ok, yeah i only help with once she's got it started and if she seems to be having trouble...she has a hard time with between her toes, and around the spikes on her head....she gets all angry and glares at me for not offering my assistance sooner.

and just to clarify...I never "pick" or "pull" at the shedding skin. I will hold on to a chunk of shed and let Vinny pull it off. Some times she she will give it a little tug and then stop and then I just let go of the shed and leave it so that the scales aren't getting damaged.

anyone catch the adult crickets for the baby dragons? She is just quoting some bad advice she looked up. Beardies don't like to climb, I can't believe she said that, she wouldn't know because those poor little guys have nothing to climb.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
