Hippielizards, I would also love to see more of Gizmo! He is a cutie! Did his tail grow back? How do crested geckos compare to Beardies--are they as affectionate and interactive? smart and sweet? Or more like anoles, who pretty mucn prefer to be left alone?

Nujohn, happy belated birthday! what kind of snake is that? He/she is lovely. How old is she, and how big will she get? She really is an amazing creature, such pretty markings...I have had no experience in meeting one--- not that I am fearful of them, but have had no friends with one to get to know.

Dezi says hi

Well thank-you!! That is a pinstripe ball python , his name is Lucifer, on how big I'm not completely sure. His markings are sooo soo pretty, and he's just a baby himself. Maybe five or six months old. He was a hatchling when I got him and honestly had no clue took him to a snake specialist because the first month he didn't eat for me at all, found out he was just a hatchling (which reptile store didn't tell me) and I had to assist feed him. Fast forward to now hes getting to be a big boy. I'm still learning with snakes, I try my best to make sure he's happy and sure enough he seems like he is.
And well hello to cute ole Dezi!!

Oh my word!!! What a beautiful caramel spider pinstripe woma Ball python (I Know that's a mouthful of a morph Lol)! I've been wanting a ball python for a while. :)

and Dezi, Gizmo is around five to six months old now and is one of my sweetest animals. He Loves being handled and loves human interaction. Lately he'll run straight onto my hand when I put it in his cage. He also can decipher from me and my different family members.

He also cleans the walls of his cage.. When I spray the walls of his cage with water Gizmo will run up to it and start licking the water off the walls and his tongue actually cleans the walls! :D He's very intelligent and very sweet.

Also Crested gecko tails don't grow back. So he's always going to have a little stumpy rear. I Got him from gecko junkie which is a great crested gecko breeder and I highly recommend them. :)

Hm that's something I didn't know I thought he was just pinstripe! But he is oh sooo beautiful. I got him because he was the only one all balled up in the store, didn't seem like he wanted to be there. I had no intention in getting a snake just food for the baby(I had a baby snake that I caught from my backyard when it was pretty cold outside at the time) But it was warm outside again and I set him free and got Lucifer. Hasn't balled up like he was in the store since I've had him. And oooo Gizmo is cute how big will he get? I saw some geckos on YouTube the other day that were almost if not bigger than a beardie I don't remember the nameut know they come from Asia
And awe that's sooo cute!

I wish I could bring hakuna to work with me when he's bigger. I work outside, and also all day so I'm not home alot of the day and I'd like to spend more time with him I feel like sometimes he's mad at me and wants some attention because when I get home and start inspecting him making sure everything looks normal and whatnot he puffs up at me, then I put my hand in pet him then pick him up and him out and he's fine. But then again I never know because he never runs onto my hand I have to pick him up from underneath , I don't know if he's just used to me picking him up instead of running into my hand or what

I'm glad that you saved Lucifer! :) and Gizmo is currently 2-3 inches long but they can get 8-9 inches long. This was a side by side picture I found which is how big Gizmo should get: View media item 60592 and Crested geckos are native to New Caledonia actually.

Also in a perfect world, You could take your beardies or other animals everywhere with you.

Oh and Hakuna says hi to both Dezi and Cisco !
AJf53NE.jpg

Today when I got home which was a little early I put hakuna in his little tub filled it a little more than usual by accident but that's how he likes it I guess I've never seen him like the water always jump out one second after he went in. Today he put his head under and was swimming and oh my gosh! He was so stinkin cute! He stayed in for like 10 minutes. Then I took him outside for some sun
icWDB3e.jpg

I fall more inlove with him more and more everyday. I actually still don't know if hakuna is actually a boy or girl but I cannot tell yet I've read alot that's it's best to wait a year otherwise the beardie will look female I don't know if it's true or not but I can't tell myself.

Wow. There's been some serious cuteness going on with this thread since the last time I checked in... :love10:

Hakuna is a nice gender neutral name, so if you ever find out that "he" is a "she", it will still work. A vet can tell you, and there are other people on this website who can tell from a photo, too. It's not quite so easy with reptiles because they carry most of their stuff around on the inside of their bodies, unlike mammals.

It's my understanding that ball pythons only "ball up" when they're frightened (that's how they get their name), so you can probably take it as a complement if Lucifer hasn't done that for a while -- it means he feels safe with you.

We raised a corn snake from a baby, and he was lucky he survived our inexperience (and lived for 15 years). Trying to adjust a growing snake's feeding schedule is like trying to hit a moving target. Interestingly enough, we had decided to get a ball python, and although the pet store had some, the salesclerk said that several of the ones they had from the same hatching had died, and he didn't want to sell any more of them because he was afraid they might have something -- it's rare that you're lucky enough to get one that cares more about the animals and the people than about making a sale. So we came home with a corn snake instead, and we made just about every mistake possible since he was our first snake, even though we thought we had done enough research. It turned out that the little snake had not read the same snake books that we had.

We had learned from at least some of our mistakes by the time we got the beardie. :p

BTW, I think ball python males can get up to about 3 feet long. Females tend to be larger.

There definitely has been some super adorableness here. :love10: and It can be a bit harder to sex reptiles.. But at least they're more decent Lol.

and Female BPs can sometimes get up to 7 feet long! :p a Friend of mine used to have a 7-1/2 foot long female ball python named Bubbles. She was very sweet. :)

and NuJohn321, I Believe that cresties tail's can drop from being stressed typically I believe.

Lol, Loki will put his entire body and head underwater and he will just happily swim around sometimes. :)

Bailey- Yes that's why we named him Hakuna very neutral! That's surprising that they didn't want to sell anymore of the BP's very rare people actually care about anything besides the money. 15 years is also a good life!
HippieLizards- Oh okay, I would believe it. Stress is a killer.
I hope everyone is having a good Saturday I made some overtime and got off early and came home to this cute fella finally shedding his body and top of head

Lol it looks like he exploded!!

and So far I've had a great Saturday... and Daisy tried to eat a tablet cord for some reason while I was using it.. She jumped up about 6 inches into the air and bit the cord and wouldn't let go! She must've thought that it was a worm or something... But she has been also attempting to eat a shoe, a rock, and her tail.. Boy is that lizard crazy. :banghead:

Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
