Hey everyone,

I was hoping you could look at this photo of my baby beardie, Ogo. I've looked at the different types of dragons, call me dumb, but I can't put a finger on which type my little guy is. Maybe I just want the clarification.. He's my first dragon ever. Things are going great, I've done endless amounts of research. Yet the one thing I can't determine is this! I'd like to know more about him. By the way, he's absolutely awesome, loves me, and loves to be hand fed :)

Thanks for any input you guys have ahead of time!

Have a good day

A cute one!!!

Sorry, I'm no help, but I love his coloring.

Thank you! Ogo's colors are awesome. I'll tell him tonight about his new admirer

It's hard to tell from that picture, but he looks like a normal beardie from afar. If you could get a closer view it would be easier to determine other characteristics. :D

Example: ALL clear nails (no line in any) would be a hypomelanistic, or hypo bearded dragon.
All black eyes (can't really distinguish the pupil) is a translucent, they tend to have translucent scales which makes the color brighter and they have a bluish appearance on their bellies when young.
Smooth skin where there are very little bumps from the scales (except for ridges around belly and beard normally) would be a leatherback.

Thanks so much Suki. I believe he is just a normal beardie. I'm starting to see a little gray line in his light nails. His pupils are yellow with a normal black pupil. And his belly is light coloured, rarely gets stress marks!

Mine was labeled as a "Fancy" Bearded Dragon when I got him from my local PetSmart.

His coloring looks like mine!

EDIT: Not sure why my picture isn't there anymore..

Could you get a couple pics that are close up of Ogo's back ? He might be a leatherback.

Sure thing mate. Here are two of Ogo on his vine. And the other photo was just for fun.. Caught him mid superman. I don't believe he's a leatherback, his back isn't all that smooth. Or so it may seem.. Anyway, take a look and see what you think?

Yeah, he is definitely not smooth, although he does have somewhat reduced scales, so they're smoother than some dragon's scales.

And that's a great action dragon pic, what a jumper.

Yeah, I think Rico may be onto something stating that Ogo is a citrus tiger. From looking at the photos and comparing him, he looks like that! Pogona Vitticeps - citrus tiger. I think is what I'll settle with knowing him as. Thank you!

And yes! He loves to jump and play so much. His energy levels some times amaze me compared to most beardies I've seen.

I looked up types of beardies based on color and he looks like a Citrus Tiger.

Mate, you're absolutely right I think? I just looked into them myself. And Ogo matches almost every pattern. He lacks the black between his stripes but maybe those will fill in as he grows? There are some almost identical to him! Thanks so much for the insight man, I really appreciate it. By the way, I was looking at Rico earlier on today. Your little not so little guy anymore looks awesome.
Cheers mate.

Citrus tigers have been around for about 20 years or so, the originator's were Draggintails. If you Google " Draggintails citrus tigers" [ Tammy Aldrich ] and Google "Down under dragons " [ who got a lot of their stock from Tammy's citrus tigers you'll see pics of true citrus tigers, they are amazing. Another breeder Carolina Classic dragons also has pure C.T's. Your dragon [ like many others ] may have a bit of C.T in his genetics, and is beautiful but I don't think Ogo is a C.T. Keep posting pics as he grows and you'll see lots of changes. He is beautiful though !

Wow that information has to be the best I've received yet. You seem to have a lot of knowledge on dragons. Ogo definitely has some sort of C.T in his genetics, but he lacks the lacks the black between what I'd call his stripes. I've been looking through all sorts of different breeders and its hard to determine what exactly he is. I might just have to back track through the store I purchased him from and see if they'd allow me to get in contact with the breeder. I for one am very curious. Tammy's C.T's look ridiculously amazing, you are 100% correct on that.

I'll keep posting photos of Ogo every few weeks as he grows. I'm beyond excited to see my little guy develop.

Thank you so much for the answers, insight, and for being completely and entirely awesome mate.

Its no problem! :D And thanks! I love their coloring. When I got him, he was pretty young. His coloring was pretty plain.. As he grew, his colors seemed to get more vibrant!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
