growing to ffast?

when i first started beardeddragon.org My beardie Rex was about 8 inchs and 1/2 thick. Now he is about 13inches and 1 thick. Rex is just lil over a year. I became a member or the website at the end of june. Do you think maybe my beardie Rex is growing a lil too fast or is it good that he is finally catching up to his size he is suppose to be??

if anything it is good. Usually when that happens it is simply because something was changed. It could be anything from simply a new tank or light to a change in food. As long as you're not powerfeeding it everyday or something like that its completely fine. Like us, some of them hit huge growth spurts, sometimes for no reason. But i am curious if you did change something. Mine is sort of small and im wondering if i could follow what you are doing

lol yah i changed alot
I switched him from a 20 gal tank to a 40 gal
I gave him a stronger UVB light
I ALSO which his food i now give him Collard Greens, Kayle, Romane, Redleaf, Squash, Watercress, and babyfood.
Also feed him mealworms every other day and crickets onces a week i love that he is finally geting bigger
oh another ive been taking him out in the hot sun =)

Mealworms are not good for beardies they have a hard shell thats really hard for them to digest id recomend just feeding him the crickets.

I use the zilla slim line desert 18' T8 i was using something SMALLER!!

Thats where i got the nutrition guide for him =) i found this out about the mealworms after i bought a 50 pack i am going to stopp him on it after i feed these off lol

He needs to be fed more. He is horribly undersized for a year old. My 10 month old is 22in.

he needs crix everyday, as many as he will eat.

And that UVB is NO good. You need to get a reptI-SUN 10.0 right away.

that is what it is the reptisun he WAS on something smaller and i noticed whhen i went to change the bolb and i no he is undersize but now he is growing really fast

Real fast is 1 inch to 2 inches a month. My big male grew 2 full inches in 1 month he was 16 inches at 4 months old. Make sure your giving the calcium x 5 days a week and vitamines 2 days a week. Its so very importand to feed them tons of buggies. im just using this for a example if he was eating crickets he would be eating prob 50 to 100 a day every day. and salad on top of that.

I agree, you need a repitsun and really need to start feedings more. My 8 month old eats about 120 crickets a day and is almost 17inchs long. Also mealworms really are a bad idea, i'm so glad you are getting rid of them would also like to see pictures of the cute little guy

Sorry had company this weekend didnt have time to post back i use Rep-Cal calcium with D3 2 days a week and Liquid calcium 3 days a week i do that because i have one who dosnt absorb the powder well so i have to use liquid for him but liquid dosnt have the D3 they need so i do the powder calcium for the d3. I use Rep-Cal Herptivite Multivitamin 2 days a week. Those are super important for their health.
