I thought I had better introduce myself, since I have only posted a couple of times in someone else's thread. My name is Kat and have adopted two adult beardies. The first to come into our life was Loiosh. His previous owner surrendered him to the Arizona Herpetological Association when he didn't want him anymore. Since I am a volunteer for the AHA, and was quick on the forum there to say I wanted to adopt him, he became ours. He is quite a character, and does all of his manly displays whenever anyone is around to see him.
When we adopted him, we found that he was missing about a third of his tail and about a third of his toes. I don't know if they were lost due to crickets in the cage at night when he was a hatchling or from hatchling tankmates or even bad sheds. He was pretty thin when we first got him, but with a nice diet of crix, superworms and better greens than us humans eat, he has gained some weight. Here are a couple pics of Loiosh:
Next, we adopted Rocza. She has all of her toes, but is missing the tip of her tail. She looks like she is fairly close to full grown, and loves hanging out with me while I am on the laptop... or helping me read the posts..
I had them together for a few days to see if they would get along, but Loiosh wasn't letting Rocza up to the heat and UV bulbs, so they were quickly separated. I have lizard leashes for them both, so in addition to the UVB bulbs, they come outside for some natural sunlight for as long as I can stand the heat. (I did mention AZ?? it was only 100 degrees F today! Sept 28th!) They get to go outside when it's not quite that hot, for their owner's sake.. LOL
I also am interested in wildlife photography and snakes. I volunteer with the AHA by rescuing rattlesnakes out of people's yards and taking them about a half mile away to the desert where they came from. There are photos of these rescues in my photobucket, if anyone is interested in looking. http://s27.photobucket.com/albums/c198/katsnake/
