Hi Everyone,
I need some advice on my girl. She was just adopted yesterday and came with her entire set up. She is already happy and well adjusted. Every time she sees me she scrambles to get out. The couple times she has persisted enough to get out, while I was giving water and checking her thermostat, she climbed up my arm and curled herself against me. Each time I let her stay until she was finished. Since she arrived she has been frantically digging and glass surfing, she was extremely active and attempting to find a way out today, then she had a watery poop, very little white. She has a very full rounded belly and it felt lumpy from what i could tell when she was out before. A few people have told me she is gravid, but her prior owner states she has not had contact with a male in 3 years. I really do not want her to become egg-bound(i think thats the term) any help would be great.

**Update**
So my girl is gravid but is not ready to lay her clutch. Since yesterday she has drastically slowed her usual activities of racing around and wanting out constantly to play. She has also been drinking from her water dish, that is something I have rarely seen, and she is gulping her water. She has a bath every 2 days and a misting every morning. I know she is not dehydrated, or at least she shouldn't be. Right now she is perched on my chest, she has snubbed her food completely today and yesterday seemed uninterested in her crickets, although she did eat them all, and seems content to stay there, but im overly paranoid about this gravid situation. She has a lay box that she does not seem to like, she scratches constantly to get out and wont dig. I followed the guide on here for my law box. Does the clingy, being thirsty and lack of movement have anything to do with her condition or is it a sign of something worse.

Give her a lay box, it sounds like shes going to lay some eggs. Make sure to increase her calcium especially after she lays the eggs as it will exhaust her.

A cuddly beardie is a nice beardie so enjoy it! Thanks for taking her in!

My female beardie loves to lay eggs apparently lol, everytime she starts digging and trying to get out more then normal i give her a rabbit litter pan with damp tropical soil and cover her tank for a few hours. Normally she finds her way in and lays the eggs within a few hours and once she leaves the box and shows no interest I take out all the eggs and put the box back in. Sometimes they'll lay eggs more then once in a short period (pancakes first time she laid 20 or so eggs, and a few days later laid another 10)

Up her calcium, give her lots of warm baths, and keep feeding her. She'll be exhausted for a few days after and may just want to lay around which is normal. Let her relax and she'll be back to herself within a week :)

Norbert is doing the same thing, glass surfing almost constantly. I put a sandbox in but she just jumps in and back out and goes back and forth trying to climb into the background of her tank. I've been giving her baths and don't really feel anything in her belly. She's been doing this for several days now. I'm beginning to get worried about her :( I hope the sandbox is good enough, maybe it's not wet enough for her.

****UPDATE****
This morning I woke up and Bossy had laid one egg on her mushroom, there was a little bit of blood and poop. Her one egg looks perfect and healthy. I was in shock but got her moved to her lay box and now she isn't doing anything. Please tell me if there is anything I can do besides going to a vet as that has to wait until Tuesday next week!!! I am panicking right now. Especially since I was promised she wasn't breed and hasn't mated. Her one egg is a little small but is already in a temporary incubator. How long for the laying process, what signs are there for egg binding???

Norbert ended up not having eggs, she was just constipated. I'd say trust your intuition though. I've heard of others only having a single egg.

Oh and one more thing, when the vet did think it was an egg, she said she was going to get her good and warm and soak her a lot. That might help.

Beardies will lay infertile eggs whether bred or not. You may be trying in incubate infertile eggs if she has not been with a male or been bred in 3 years. Emily hasn't laid eggs so I don't know anything about how to tell if they are fertile or not. I would just keep offering her the lay box, and begin a cave for her to finish..make sure it wont collapse on her though.

It was confirmed that she had been with a male before. But the circumstances surrounding her back story are a bit murky. I have been unable to get a consistent answer about her being with a mate. Its been a yes, then a never, then a few years ago, then last year, the answer always changes, and since I don't have an idea I would rather incubate and be safe then sorry.

I hate it when you cant get a straight answer to something as important as the breeding or non breeding of an animal. I don't blame you for incubating even if they are infertile. Always better safe than sorry. Good luck with all of this.

Hello,

How is your girl acting, restless at all or does she have a black beard at all?
If there was some blood, I would watch her closely in case she does have any problems.
Are you giving enough calcium for her & using a UVB light also?

Let us know how she is doing.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
