I'm going on vacation Sunday the 16 and coming back the 20th
My father-in law is going to feed all my animals and will be stopping by twice for the lizard for her morning feeding and her afternoon feeding.

Ok My question is, how to keep my veggies fresh until I get back?

I'm going to go ahead and tear the veggies in the desired pieces to feed Little Foot that way there are no accidents with large pieces.

I was thinking of putting the veggies in zip lock bags but wasn't sure how long they would keep. Usually I just put them in the veggie draw but they don't last long.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

I would suggest NOT tearing them up, until needed. This helps keep them for longer.
Also, if you wash the leaves, then place paper towels between, then bag, they hold longer too.
Janie.
Or you can just bring the dragon and viv by my house, and I'll spoil em ;) Savannah, Ga :D

I use those veggie "green bags" They are an "as seen on TV" product but they work really well. Even torn up veggies will last more than a week in the bag. They sell them at target and walgreens...almost everywhere, i think i paid $6 and got 12 bags. (the bags are reusable too!)

That sounds like a good idea also

Thanks

With regards to greens, I purchase a mixed green salad mix from Costco. It comes in a rectangular plastic container. When storing it I open it up and fluff the greens, then place a couple paper towels on top, close, and invert the container before replacing in the fridge. This way they last longer.I think the "fluffing" is the key.

as long as i only get collard greens i tear mine up. mustard greens wilt to easily. But i have a large tupperware container i put a few layers of papertowels on the bottom. Tear my collard greens up, put a layer on the towels. put another layer of towels and keep repeating the process until i'm done. the collard greens have kept as long as 2 weeks before starting to get smelly, the mustard only a week. i also keep his stalk of squash (not sure what you call one squash, lol) in there and i just slice off a piece at a time and then cut that piece into bite sized pieces as i'm needing it. just a suggestion. :)

Actually Tupperware has special containers for veggie storage in your fridge. I'm not sure what they are called exactly but I do own one. It works great for all our beardie salad ingrediants. The greens last up to 2-3 weeks in it. I do place paper towel between layers of greens. I prewash all the greens and place the towel in between. You can also use the containers for other veggies. I'm not a tupperware dealer but swear by this container for Beardie Greens!!!

forever bags are the best for this, they really do live up to their name. I have also been buying "Euro Greens", the peppery and country green mixes, Pyro prefers the latter, just my 2cents

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
