Hi All,

THis is my first bearded dragon so i am looking for a bit of advice as i cant work out why she is glass surfing / wall surfing 50% of the day!

I got her about 2/3 weeks ago a 16 month old female. She came with a viv (3 sides wood) that was 1.2 meters long by 40cm high and 40cm wide. The viv was full of calcium sand and it had a coil uvb light. After reading up on the dragons i got rid of the calcium sand (now on slate tiles) and got the repti sun 10 tube uvb light (as i hear they are the best). The temperatures are all fine and within the range as i have a digital thermometer and check these constantly.

When i got her she was shedding her skin so she was a bit lethargic and didn't eat much.. but after a couple of days the scratching started and it basically has not stopped. She will get up... bask for maybe 2/3/4 hours.. then glass/wall surf for an hour.. then back to basking.. then back to surfing (basically all day). I then let her out when i am home and feed her.. give her the run around of the house however she still goes to the nearest wall and tries to surf it...

i am really not sure what to do as the sound drives me up the wall! obviously if there is something wrong i want to be able to put it right as clearly she wants something.

anyone have any similar experiences or any idea what may be the issue?

thanks in advance

Let her out of her cage !!! She needs to run around the house for a few to get a work out.

I do this with my 3yr old male German Orange Giant. When he wall surfs, I let him run around the house for a few hours. When he gets tired, he can't wait to go back under his basking light for a nap.

My guy gets real active and surfs sometimes when he's shedding. I think it's his way to help the shed come off. Make sure you're giving her baths regularly to help out. Shedding time is the only time mine does this at least. He's in my bedroom so I can agree the noise is exhausting!

Thanks. I do let her out for a couple of hours (when i aget home from work).. however she will just do the same thing on the walls and then evenualy find a corner of the room and just stay there....

She couldnt have been shedding for a month could she? i do fgive her regular baths as i know she loves that.. so i will continue to do that.

Apollo sheds in phases. A foot or two, then his head and tail, then his body. It takes him a month at least!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
