That cooking thermometer won't give you an accurate reading either. He shouldn't be spending a lot of time in his hide, he should be wanting to bask.

Awesome. The new thermometer is ordered. I'll even rush it so it gets here ASAP.

The Jabster is a PetSmart beardie, so I don't know his age, exactly. He's a champion eater and about a foot long, if that helps. I can post a current picture with a ruler (or other common household object) for reference tonight.

That's good that you ordered that thermometer and are even having it shipped faster.

So, he's about 1 ft long, he's quite young then, perhaps 4 to 6 mo old. I wanted to make sure he wasn't a brumation age since he's been avoiding the basking spot lately.

What size tank do you have?
