Yes 50% will be hets, in theory, but you can only prove them as hets by breeding them to another het, or a visual. Generally speaking "possible hets" should be regarded as NOT hets when being sold, or purchased, since time taken to prove them out takes away any value added.

From all of the readings I've done and from the breeders I've seen advertise their babies for sale, possible het for hypo means 50% possible het for hypo. Probable het for hypo means 66% chance the dragon is het for hypo. If you would breed your possible (50% het hypo) to a non het, it is a very small possibility that you would have babies that are het for hypo. You could technically say your babies are 33% or 25% het for hypo (sorry I don't know the exact percentage and it is late so I don't fee like spending the time getting the correct one :| ) but I have never seen any breeder advertise their babies like this. It would be such a small percentage that the chances would not increase the price per dragon when you sell them.

Visual x Normal = 50% Maybe

Het x Het = 66% Probably

Het x Normal=33% Possible

All those percentages are "probabilities".

It's kind of like the lottery.

So Jeff, that means crossing a possible het that is not proven yet with a normal will give you less than 33% right? I wouldn't even deal with anything less than 50%. It is just too confusing and not worth it. lol :banghead:

A dragon is either a het, or not a het. Until it is proven, it is a normal with the possibility open.

The equations above only refer to parents with known genetics, and the possibilities the offspring will have.

I was just about to open another topic regarin this questions.. Thing is i get confused every time i reed about genetics in beardies! I read and asked and i was allways told that colors or morphs mixtured when mated, i mean, if i were to mate a sandfire orange with a yellow the offpring would turn a mixture between the parents colors, the same with any other color, so what i don´t finish to understand is why there are dominant, codominant and ressesive genes when it is supposed to all have their parents colors... For instance i have an orange female and a sunburst male, what would be the result if i decided to mate them? the same with a normal male and an orange female? Should i open another topic or can i keep asking here?
Thanks
Ariel

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
