Fred and Jackies Thread**Remodeled Tank Pics

Ok I bought my Beardies just over a month ago, so they should be about 2 months old now, when I bought them the guy that worked there said it's ok to keep them in the same enclosure together. Then I found out that I have a male and a female!
I've seen lots of peoples threads on here and I see that you keep your Beardies in different enclosures, should I hurry up and buy a new enclosure? They get along fine where they are now, there hasn't been any problems, I just don't really know what to do right now...

Ive read advice that states that after 4 months old they should be separated so you have a bit of time to get some money together to get a cage. Though the sooner you can get another cage, the better. Any beardies housed together can be a risk (mating too young, fighting, stress and not eating, dominance issues etc), whether it male-male, female-female, male-female. Beardies are solitary and prefer to be alone, as you've probably read. its good your taking the advice to separate them on board.

We had 2 beardies together when they were little, but they were separated about 4 months old. We were lucky they had enough food and had lots of things to play on, so they never took bites out of each other They were in a 20 gallon tank. Then they each had a 20 gallon, then a 40 gallon breeder. Our youngest beardie Rubio, he's 3 yrs old now, he's missing most of the digits on his right front paw & the long digit on his right back paw. Both paws have alot of scar tissue. This happened in a pet shop but it made us realize that babies will take bites out of each other, even if it's an accident. So you're always safer to house them separately as soon as possible.

Can't wait to see the next bunch of pics. I just put some new pics on our thread. Check them out when you have a minute.

awww they're gorgeous. I saw some 2inch beardies in my pet shop today and i miss having a baby beardie but wouldn't swap Terri for the world!

Brian, they are just beautiful, especially the last pic of Freddie (don't you just love that pose?) and then sleeping Jackie, soooo cute. I just love babies, they just grow up so fast, so enjoy them while they're little!

Jackie started to shed this afternoon (about bloody time) and this is what it looks like now

She just finished her head and i'm going to give them a bath soon, maybe during the intermission of the Vancouver game tonight. 8)
I'm normally a leaf fan but for the playoffs,

Awww, they shed so much so quickly when they're little.Just big explosions of dead skin! Our beardies are all adults & they shed here & there. Rubio just shed 1/2 his face, paws and tail. He'd previously shed other 1/2 of his head, beard, back & tummy. So I guess he's now, after 3 mo of shedding, done a complete body shed. See the difference?

Wow lol, it takes mine like two days MAX for a full body shed.
I can't wait for them to get bigger, I'm so jealous when I look at other threads and their Beardies are so big and beautiful.

Enjoy the baby while you can- they grow so fast. I thought mine would always be small (she was small for her age) but at 1 year is now nearly 18inches and 480g. I look at her baby photos and forget how small she was! Although i love her the way she is now just as much, if not more (she's in vet hospital tonight for a possible minor URI, so worried and miss her lots )

Thank you. mild case of respiratory infection ( i think) but they're keeping her in tonight so vet can look at her tomorrow. Im a teacher and can't take time off work so couldn't take her in during the day. Poor baby, its a miss not having her in the house. You grow unbelieveably attached to these little things !!
