My beardie got out of my son's hands while he was holding him and ran off. She's 17 weeks of age, in good health, but lost inside of a 4,400 sq. foot home! There are way too many nooks and crannies and we don't know what to do! My kids are upset and so am I; she is a loved member of the family.

We placed greens out in the area she was lost along with one of her heat lamps, water, and some worms. What can I do to find her quick???

Thank you so much in advance for your help

Update- she was found this morning and is doing great!

The only thing i can think of is make sure you close all of the doors that you can so she cant get around much, and start searching the areas closest once you know she can't move any further.

Closets? Do you really think she's go towards the dark and not the light? My husband thinks she will come to all lighted areas but it's been over an hour now to no avail. I feel horrible about this...................

first of all dont panic shes inside and its warm in your house  putting her lamp out with greens is a great idea leave them out if all else fails im sure she will find them. if she was startled she may have ran towards the darkest area she could find. check in everywhere even if you think the space is too small for them to fit you would be suprised where they can cram themselves into. closing doors is a good idea also lifting things off the floor might help

At this time of day/ night, beardies will be looking for a place to settle down and sleep. The one time my girl was *really* lost, I found her at the bottom of my closet, sound asleep like "what's the fuss?". The other time, I found her in the middle of the floor, again, like "What's the fuss?"

Find your beardie yet? :)

I often wonder what would happen if mine escaped - and he tried to today, too. He was hangin out in his window soaking up some rays when he got startled and zipped down the back of the couch to a spot where it was really dark.

He won't stay hidden forever - are there any other animals in the house he should fear? You may want to check the undersides of couches and other furniture as well, they can cling if they can hang onto it!

I really hope you find him!

Thanks guys, these are all very helpful replies. I've closed all doors and I imagine she will just sleep for the night. What worries me is that someone here had opened a downstairs window. The screen, I just noticed was popped open JUST enough for her to slip herself through it if she tried, so now I'm worried! :( My husband and I thoroughly checked the yard, front, back and sides of the house.

I left her greens, pellets, some worms and water under a bright lamp with her basking bulb and blankie out in the office where she was when she got loose. Hubby is in there on the computer and watching for her, but we still have not found her yet. I dunno if I'll sleep. :/

Any of mine that ever were lost in the house eventually were found. I wouldn't be worried that she got out the window, she would not be trying to get up to a window for any reason, she'll be down on the floor, maybe hiding for a bit. Be careful if you move furniture, that's the trickiest part. I think she'll turn up.

I agree with closing the doors and putting food out. Remember that your beardie is probably startled and will most likely look for a dark place to hide. One of mine also escaped a while ago and was found under the computer stand in the same room as the viv. Also put one of your worn shirts close to or under the heat lamp. Good luck, I know how stressful this can be. I threatened to sleep on the floor that night.

Thanks SO much for everyone's help. She must have slept through the night peacefully. When I came back into the house from dropping the kids off at the school bus stop, she was sitting peacefully on the marble tile floor in the foyer like "Heyyyy wassupppp!!" Jumped into my hand practically and changed her coloring right away to lighter. LOL.

I put her immediately into her enclosure under her lamps and with some fresh crickets and greens. She's chowing down happily.

THANK YOU SO MUCH, you all really helped our family!! My kids are going to be so relieved when they come home!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
