Hey all! I just now realized (1 month after constructing the cage) that I didn't seal the 2 sides, back and top of the cage! I did seal the bottom with mod podge and then laid some paper towels down and added tiles on top. Would it be ok to have Maarku sleep in a bin for a night while I seal the rest of the cage with outdoor mod podge? And if so, would it even be ready for him to be put back in the next day?

Thought I commented on this - oops
I've kept pepper overnight in a bin in my closet when working on his viv. However, in your case .... I'm not sure the cure time for the mod podge though - I would look it up to find out. You don't want to put him back in while it's still curing if it puts of any chemicals/odors.

No problem :). And I believe the cure time is 24 hours. but after doing more research I'm not sure I want to use it. I guess I'll just have to build another cage  8) .... This has seriously become a hobby that is taking control hahaha!

I always do this when it comes to crafty projects. If it doesn't turn out PERFECT, I feel obligated to restart.

Do you think it'll be fine without it being fully sealed? I don't mist him, I bathe him every other day and he has tile down on top of paper towels, and the bottom of the cage is sealed with regular mod podge for extra measure.

That's how I ended up with the beast of a cage I have now B) so I know the feeling well.

What material did you use? I like to seal the jnside all up to help minimize anything from the wood (such as glues, treatments, pine phenols) from leaking into the environment. If the bottom is sealed it should be ok. Just keep an eye on it that I moisture is degrading the wood.

You could use a temporary bin (like a large rubbermade) for housing while you fix the sealing situation.

The cage is made from maple plywood. And trust me, if I could do it without getting an ass chewing from my fiancee, I would lol. I've only built 3 cages in the past year and every time I told her they were "officially" done -_-. But I might just start building another one here at work while it's slow.. you know, for a "back up" cage  :blob5:

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
